Long month

A lot of my schools seem to notify mid to late Feb or even into March. I don't know how I will survive.
I am forcing myself off of the computer. Which is so good for so many reasons.
I am definitely in the phase of the game where I believe I will not get into any of my schools. My GRE did not even crack 1200 (missed by 10). And they will be receiving so many applications this year. I am done for. And I am not going for a Master's alone. I have kids and that would mean uprooting them and then again in two or three years. Can't do it.
Well, off to obsessively check application status updates. Haven't done that in a few days.

At least you'll find out in Feb and March...most of the schools I've applied to will let me know in mid-March to mid-April and 1 I won't know until May! I wish I could just fast-forward through February. I thought getting through Jan was bad...so I know how you feel (I too obsessively check my status application updates. I don't know why I bother seeing as how I won't hear a thing for awhile, but you never know Posted Image )

Ugh! That is awful! When do you have to inform schools of your decision?

I have to let the schools know by April 15th. My # 1 pick I won't know until mid-April, so I'll have to move fast I guess. At this point, I'll just be happy to get into ANY school!

Are there no relevant masters programs in your current area? I've applied to two masters programs near my parents' house, which I really don't want to attend, but which would be convenient if I don't get in anywhere else. I too was wary of applying for masters programs in new places - I'm sick and tired of moving around, and would love to know that wherever I move next, I'll be settled for at least the next 6 years. Gosh, how amazing it would be to be able to move into an apartment, paint the walls, and buy decent furniture I plan to keep!

No. I am in sociology. I could do an Master's in Public Administration, and that is about as close as it gets unless I want to drive over an hour.

Do keep hope alive. My GRE score was 1180 and I've been accepted to two top 10 sociology programs. Scores aren't everything (and actually, seem to mean very little). Just hang in there!! :)

For us sociology Ph.D applicants, the longest month, of course, is the shortest month of the year. Whoo, irony <_<

Hang in there! Some of my schools started notifying people already, and I haven't heard a thing. My family wonders why I can't concentrate on anything...
