Where are my decisions?

It's basically the end of March and I still have not heard from 7 of the 10 programs I applied to. When will my decisions arrive? April 15th is fast approaching and I don't want to just decide on schools because I haven't heard from the more important ones on my list.

I am so sorry to hear that. I would be absolutely climbing the walls by now! That is so many still out! I had only one left that I hadn't heard from and last week they sent me an email to update me on the status, which is that I am first on the wait list. Wait lists are difficult, but to have no sign at all is horrible!

Have you send emails to the staff or professor of those programs? I sent an email last week to one of the programs that I applied (MIT) and they quickly replied with an apology because I have been accepted but they "forgot" to sent me the letter... :S

BEST OF LUCK!

@richinasne: Whoa that's crazy! But congrats! So many times, people end up just being strung along before being rejected (@OP: I hope this isn't the case for you!!), but you were actually accepted and they forgot to send you the letter! That's crazy.

I sent emails off to 2 programs and got the usual about an estimated time when decisions will be made. I just sent off another email to a 3rd school for an application status update, but haven't received a response yet. I have only seen maybe one or two acceptances for a few of the schools I applied to, but I'm guessing those would be the top picks for the program.

I feel you. I'm still waiting on 8 programs (though to be fair, in one of those I'm waitlisted, but still).

Waiting on four more (down from five yesterday; I got a rejection this morning.) The waiting's gotten a little easier after receiving a funded acceptance, but my first choice still hasn't gotten back to me, and the waiting is eating at me. Two of my referees have professional contacts and collaborators there--would that make up for a weak GPA from an insignificant school? They've already sent out a bunch of acceptances--does that mean I'm rejected and they didn't bother with a notice, or passed on to the next round of evaluations? Or have I been rejected since February (when they did interviews) and they *really* don't care to get back to me?

Argh!

Looks like we're on the same boat. I'm waiting on around 10, and my only funded admit wants a definitive answer by the end of March. (To top it all off all the grad offices are giving me stock answers)

best of luck

21 days is a long time...I think I might lose my mind by then. I am waiting on 5 schools to give any word and another 4 where I have been wait listed. I feel like the 5 I haven't heard from are a lost cause (at best I am wait listed, and after being wait listed at 2 programs last year only to be rejected I don't have much hope in that option either). No acceptances...the future is looking grim

Wow, I feel for you. I only applied to one college and recently found out that the college does not plan to look at nor make admission decisions until the middle of May and that they will notify applicants at the end of May. Just so hard to wait...

I'm waiting on my top choice, too, and a friend of mine has been accepted there with funding. The wait game sucks.

I think that the UC schools are being especially bad about admissions decisions this year because of the budget crisis. They say that they get a extremely large number of applicants and then they are probably also trying to wait to see what the exact budget is going to be and how many people they should accept. Its very disappointing for some of us though. I had hoped to hear from UC San Diego's Scripps Institute of Oceanography but nothing, also UC Irvine has sent nothing but the prof I was speaking with there told me to expect to be rejected. That is in contrast to UWashington which accepted me about a month ago and UOregon which accepted me even earlier and the private and well-funded Caltech which accepted me very very early in the admissions season. I'm planning to make a decision earlier than April 15th so that the programs I am not planning to attend can accept other people. But I do wonder how I will feel if I think suddenly hear from SIO, for example, that I am accepted. I probably won't be accepted there since I haven't heard from them yet but still...and they said that they are making decisions in April...Who does that?! Sending out decisions when or after when people have to decide? That's kooky.

UGH! Good luck waiting it out! I know it's hard, but at least you haven't heard a flat out "no" from them. So hang in there. Also, are any of the schools you applied to private? I'm not sure if it's true of all private universities, but the ones I applied to all have decision deadline dates after April 15th.

18 days left. Perhaps this is the week for our decisions. My first choice said that decisions will be sent out between the end of March to early April and this week really fits that description.

Hello Joro...I can very well understand your situation as I am riding on the same boat. I applied to 6 universities and I have already received 3 rejections including the school which I considered to be safe. Right now I am waiting for a decision from my top choice and the other two safe choices. Surprisingly when I checked the online status of my application for one of my safe schools, it said that the decision has been made and written notification to follow. Do you know what does it mean ?? It's a canadian university. Does it mean I am rejected or accepted ??

I would like to know whether this is your first stint with applications ?? or have you applied earlier too ??? If I have not got any rejections or acceptance from some of the universities, can I take it like "I am on a wait-list"...I could have emailed them but I am scared to do that. I don't know what to do. This waiting thing is too much to bear...

Anyway good luck to you !!!

priya: I have no idea what that means. Just wait for the notification or contact admissions. I applied last year and got into 4 schools. I would stay contact admissions if you haven't heard anything.

17 days and still counting...nothing today. On the bright side, I did have a small conversation with a cute dental assistant today about my grad school admissions. She wants me to call her at work to let her know my results. B)

I called the 3 schools.

I left at GSU, left a voicemail at OHIO and spoke with Syracuse..they told me they haven't finalized decisions yet. I guess that is a good thing that I haven't received a NO from them?

UCONN told me it would be a 'couple of weeks' before they decide on funding. 2 weeks from now will be the week of the 15th. How am I supposed to inform them of my decision whether or not to apply if I don't have any information about my funding package by then??
