  1. Awesome! I just PM'd you Any impressions/thoughts/concerns would be super appreciated
  2. I accepted their offer last week, so I'm definitely going. I can't really afford to visit before the year starts though. I live in Los Angeles so moving is going to be a big expense as it is. I was going to arrive at the beginning of August (cross-country road trip? you bet!) and make appointments ahead of time to check out houses to rent. I figure it will probably take a few days to find a place. I just know from experience to never, ever sign a rental agreement until you've visited the house/apartment, no matter how desperate you are. Will you keep me posted on what you thought about campus? And where are you heading from?
  3. I don't know what your plans are, but if you have a lot of stuff to move, my boyfriend and I are considering a U-box. For like $1500 someone will pickup all your stuff, drive it across country, and then deliver it to your new pad. ($1500 for a one-bedroom apartment.) Since we want to take the opportunity to drive across country and see some cities along the way (we're moving from LA to Alabama), we thought it'd be easier than lugging a huge trailer. I will say, though, as someone who has moved across the world twice: only take the stuff you really need. You'd be surprised what you can live without and what things will be irrelevant in a new environment. @Cra2y_G1raffe: We're moving with a red-tail boa snake. I feel you on the pet hassle
  4. I'm considering moving to Tuscaloosa for my MA so this thread is way helpful! Has anyone been accepted to a program? Would love to connect with people who are considering moving here for Fall 2017.
  5. Hey everyone! I got accepted to University of Alabama for an MA in American Studies. I'm still waiting to hear back from Boston University, but I'm leaning towards U of AL anyway. Has anyone been accepted there for AMST or any other program?
  6. Hi everyone, I've been studying for the GRE Lit test and the website Vade Mecum has gone down! (Super helpful and wonderfully organized website.) Does anyone know if the same dude/tte has a similar website not on Duke? Or does anyone have the study guide in doc/pdf form? (I've been trying to use this: http://lasr.cs.ucla.edu/alison/hapaxlegomena/index.html but it's not organized by time periods and that confuses the heck out of me.) Thanks so much!
