I contacted a department about my position. They kindly gave me my position and my likelihood based on previous years' patterns. I would advise against contacting anyone but the person who has been in communication throughout the process (whoever you received notification about waitlist status from originally).

I'm with you. My dream school (where I am waitlisted) had an early recruitment so I was hopeful I might hear something soon but I think everyone waits until they do all visits. Does anyone know when the latest visiting day is? Excuse me while I continue to obsessively reload the results page.

I can't speak for UConn specifically but I think this is the unfortunate nature of being on the waitlist. They actually do not have news until it moves one direction or another, so silence just means yeah, still waiting to hear from accepted students. That said, I think waitlists will will start moving after this next weekend. Most recruitments will be done (I think?) so people will probably start at least notifying their last choice schools.

Those who did contact departments about the waitlist--what was the reception?

I am curious what people have to say about this as well. I know some programs rank waitlist candidates but some wait until they receive declines then reconvene the committee, so there might not be an answer. Also, I fear some programs the contact for applications related questions actually has no knowledge of the waitlist.

Does anyone know when most recruitment weekends will be over? Is the last one in late March?

This happened to me with Minnesota a few years ago. I called to find out I had been waitlisted. If you haven't heard anything, that might be the case and you should probably call.

Have any of those waitlisted at UW-Seattle asked for details on the waitlist (e.g. is it ranked? is it short?)? I know their recruitment is this weekend so I was thinking there might be some news soon. Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks for the detailed response. Since I'm coming from an MS program (and therefore applied to a specific advisor), I'm curious which areas/advisors the accepted applicants were aiming for. I'm unsure if it will take someone in my specific area turning down an offer or not. Anyone have any idea on how most schools go about it?

Those accepted to Washington, any idea if you plan to accept the offer? I've officially been waitlisted and this is my top/only/perfect choice so I am trying to get a read on my chances now.

Sorry to post this again, but has anyone who applied but was not accepted to UW Seattle heard anything? Usually by this time there have been at least some rejections and waitlist notifications. I have no idea if I should assume waitlist or rejection at this point.

Has anyone been waitlisted at UW Seattle or contacted the department for an update? It looks like last year someone was waitlisted in the second week of February.
