  1. I've gotten into two schools off the waitlist (two days ago and before the deadline) with money offered, so definitely don't give up!
  2. Got into a Hopkins PhD program off the waitlist yesterday.
  3. Hi! I'm also heading to Boulder, for a PhD with the Institute of Behavioral Genetics. I've only been out there once, so I don't know much about places to go, but I'd love to meet all of you! Congrats to all
  4. I'm in a similar situation with a professor starting when I start (also in psych!) at my top choice, and in some ways it makes me almost more excited. Thanks so much for asking this and the responses given! I think it's very exciting, because we'll both have a lot to prove, and really want to work hard and do great things. I'm also a little idealistic today.
  5. University of Michigan HBHE (where I did my MPH) has a Capstone requirement but no thesis. I have not found a lack of thesis to be much of a hindrance, and found that I was able to gain skills and practical knowledge from my classes without the added pressure of a thesis (as well as having the time/energy to TA classes). However, for what it's worth, it's a top 5 US school, and you do have to do a summer placement. I also did an independent research study with a professor in my final year. Even without a thesis requirement, you can still find and do publication-level research at a School of Public Health, which I think is also pretty ego-worthy! If the research you're interested in is at one school over another, I don't think a thesis requirement should make or break it? But if it's really what's driving you, then go thesis =)
  6. Still waiting on UMB. They haven't made decisions yet, as of today!
  7. Thanks for the advice to call! I did, and apparently they're not done making decisions for my program yet... a little late in the game, no?
  8. One I had just woken up from a nap. Another I got an unofficial email while playing a video game in bed. The official letter was a more deliberate time; I was checking the mail for the official letter =P
  9. I interviewed at UMB on February 20th, and was told the Department would be in contact "over the next few weeks". Last week I sent an email to the Graduate Coordinator for my program just to touch base and see if she had any information about when I could expect to hear, and got no response. It's been almost a week since I sent that email. My application status on the website is "Complete Ready for Review". Has anyone heard anything from GPiLS this year? I saw on the results search one rejection from late February but otherwise, has anything moved? They're the last school I'm waiting to hear from, and it's getting close to decision time for other acceptances.
  10. Social and Behavioral Sciences. No notification to check, just logged back in to the application and saw a "Preliminary Decision" link.
  11. Waitlisted at Hopkins PhD Accepted at UW PhD
  12. I also got my MPH there (graduated last year). It was wonderful! Good luck and enjoy it!
  13. Mind if I ask where on the page it appeared? I just see Sent to Department for Review (not Epi but just wondering in general where it'll be).
