Hello guys... I just got an interview invite, but I am not sure if I can call it an invite. I am an international student and have to do this through Skype.. Anyway, I got two invites so far, and for one of them I got an official letter with dean and directors' signature on it saying I was invited for an interview. A professor will be interviewing me, but a quick check on her research interests tells me we have very different research interests. And since I got a 'letter,' I thought she was interviewing me to recruit me to a program, not specifically to her lab. For the second school, however, I didn't get an official letter or anything, but just a very informal email from a professor at this school saying he wanted to skype me regarding my research interests. Another check on his research and no, his research topics weren't what I stated in my SOP. So I am wondering whether he contacted me to recruit me to the program, or to his lab ( i don't think he has a grad student in his lab). I mean, I will still talk about my own research interest. But just curious to find out how people usually receive an interview invite. From a director or from a professor who's simply interested in your research, or a professor in an admission committee.? Thanks!.

(I meant to post this thread in Biology thread.. Sorry for those who saw it in the general Life Science section..) Does anyone know about the program? Rutgers Molecular Biosciences? I am trying to go into the pharmacology track. I would really appreciate any information on it. Thanks!

I am also an international student and have applied for Pharmacology Phd. Any international who applied to the same track as I did? I just got one interview invite two weeks ago, but it's not my top choice. I see several people are getting invites(although different program), and I am getting pretty nervous b/c I still haven't heard back from the majority of schools I've applied to...I guess I should just keep waiting and see what happens!

I know my stats aren't the best, and was wondering where I could aim for cell biology program at US. I am applying next year by the way. Undergrad Institution: Big State School Major(s): Microbiology, Neuroscience, Math Minor(s): Psychology, Chemistry GPA in Major: 3.40 Overall GPA: 3.497 Position in Class: not sure Type of Student: International female GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 166 V: 166 W: 6 Research Experience: 4 years of research at the lab under a research program, presented at symposium this program holds, presented at all-campus conference, and midwest conference, review paper manuscript in preparation, summer internship at glycobiology lab in my home country Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Best Poster award at all-campus conference, Academic scholarship 4 years, Honors scholarship 1 year Pertinent Activities or Jobs: President of an academic club that conducts research on different topics and does presentation, a leadership council of nationally hold organization, leader of a youth group at church (idk if it matters), chief editor of church newspaper Special Bonus Points: No... Honestly, where can I aim for? Can I make it to top 50 cell biology program?
