  1. Academic interviews can look different depending on the focus and setup of the program. The only school I did a dedicated "academic interview" at was UVM, where I go now. Feel free to direct message if you have questions about what that looked like for me! Edit: I lied, I also had an academic interview at NC State.
  2. Absolutely! I'm an open resource and if for some reason there's something I can't answer, I will connect you with someone who can.
  3. I'd be happy to chat more and give some insight about what the process was like for me last year! Would you mind private messaging me? I'm working on summer internship applications at the moment but I'll get back to you tonight or tomorrow, and feel free to ask any questions you have. I'll answer to the best of my ability.
  4. @JayBoogie @SAgal Hi y'all! I'm a current first year in the UVM HESA program! Just as a note, as far as travel and where you'll stay, we do our absolute best to try to host everyone who needs a place to stay while they are here for their interview weekend. There's a possibility that you'll need a hotel but we make every effort that people stay with a current student not just to save money, but so that you also get some time to chat with your host and make connections. Also, I'm not sure what the policy is this year, but last year there were some funds for travel assistance for those with financial need (didn't cover everything but definitely helped.) It's worth calling the HESA office and checking if cost is an inhibitor to coming.
  5. I committed about two weeks ago to UVM for their M.Ed in HESA. I'm so excited - full OOS tuition remission, very nice monthly stipend, and possibly free housing (my GA is non-housing but there's an opportunity to be a building manager (help people locked out of apartments and call maintenance for frozen pipes) for 5-10 hours/week in exchange for an apartment. Their funding was just something my other schools couldn't come close to. I'm a little nervous because I've never lived outside the south (born and raised in North Carolina) except for one summer in Seattle for an internship, but it'll be a new adventure!
  6. The 22-23rd? I'll be there! I'm flying into Vermont from NC that Saturday.
  7. Not sure if they do this. I got an interview invite from UVM but they might be going back and extending more invitations in the next week or two if people are declining the interview weekend.
  8. I got an e-mail from a POI that said "Welcome to the UNCG and SPAHE family!" Not an acceptance, apparently just a really warm and friendly person. I overanalyzed the shit out of that line until she clarified that I won't hear any decision until mid-January.
  9. Hi guys, I'm late to the party and have already applied to 4/5 of my schools listed below: UVM North Carolina State University Virginia Tech UNC Greensboro Appalachian State (not yet applied - still deciding whether I'm going to click submit or not) Any info on interview invitation timelines, experience with the interview process, or just general experiences with the school would be awesome! I just got my first interview invitation from NC State a few days ago, so any info on what their recruitment weekend is like in particular would be greatly appreciated.
