  1. Hi everyone! This is my 4th year applying for a UK Fulbright Award (Univ of Reading). Last year I got selected as an Alternate, so I'm praying this year I get the Award! I have my interview on the 28th and I'm more nervous than last year, if that's possible. Have any other UK applicants had their interviews yet? Any advice? Best of luck to you all!
  2. I bet you are! It's an amazing school, Norwich is beautiful and the professors are awesome! I hope you have as wonderful an experience there as I did! Thank you, I so appreciate that. My only other choice is an online degree I have to foot the bill for, so I put all my hopes on the Fulbright for the 3rd year in a row. I have to make a decision whether or not to accept my backup program by 4/15, so I'm praying I get my Fulbright award by then! Have a great weekend, and congrats again!!! ????
  3. Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot! ❤ It was so hard for me to keep my spirits up and finish out the rest of my work day after getting the email. Praying that BOTH of us get bumped up ASAP! We've worked so hard for this, and we didn't come this far to give up now! *high fives*
  4. If I could 'like' this 100x, I so would. Yes, PLEASE! Living in this limbo any longer than necessary is gonna kill me, I know it.
  5. It really does. UK alternate here, too. But I'm telling myself at least it's not a direct "no," and we still have a chance. Plus to even have made it this far is an amazing accomplishment. *hugs* Congrats to all who got notified, especially you @inkstainedarm! I'm so freaking happy for you!!
  6. ME TOO! ? They just need to freaking tell us already. Every time my iPhone 'dings' with an email, I'm like: ???. Fingers crossed and praying UK notifications come tomorrow! ????????
  7. Sadly, no. The Fulbright Award is my only chance of being able to afford accepting my university's offer. I hope we get our decisions tomorrow! I don't know how much more of this waiting I can stand. ?
  8. I can imagine!! I did SO much research before I studied abroad back then. I'll respond to your PM after I post this. I love your topic - it looks very interesting!! YES! I actually moved up here from SoCal because I missed England's weather so much. So psyched to go back! LOL
  9. UEA is a WONDERFUL university! I studied abroad there as an undergrad a few years ago, and I loved it there! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about UEA, Norwich or anything else. I don't mind at all - my focus is on heresy and religious discrimination the Crusades, specifically regarding the Crusades from 1096-1229. How about yours? Yeah, this is my third year applying for this award, and the first year I've qualified for an interview, so I'm on pins and needles waiting for the decision. Good luck to you!
  10. LOL Yep, there is one in Washington. There are also cities named Rochester in Minnesota, Ohio, and quite a few other states, too.
  11. I'm down in Rochester (just north of Centralia)! I'm also hoping to do a program in Medieval History in the U.K. - what university did you apply to? If I get it, I'll be at the University of Reading. I really hope we get notified this week. All this waiting is torture.
  12. Study/Research in the U.K. (University of Reading)! This is my 3rd year applying, so I'm hoping the U.K. sends out their notifications next week. ??
  13. Hello Shauna, and welcome to the forum!! I'm applying to the U.K. (England) for the third time, and there are quite a few others applying for a U.K. Award also, so you're not alone. Making it to this stage of the application as a first-time applicant is really incredible, so congrats to you! Wishing you the best of luck!! Which university are you wanting to attend? I studied abroad in the U.K. when I was in college, and I absolutely loved it! Feel free to message me, if you want. Have a great day!
  14. Congrats to you both! This is my 3rd year applying for a UK Partnership Award, and this is the first year I had an interview, so I was equal parts petrified and excited. My interview was over Skype and lasted about 20 minutes. I was at work and actually had to do it from my car, but they were really nice and understanding about it. I wish you both all the best of luck!
  15. Hello people! Got my interview invite a couple days ago, and it's in 2 weeks! This is my 3rd time applying, but my first time interviewing, so I'm really nervous! Have any other UK semi-finalists had their interviews yet? If so, what kind of questions were you asked? Have a great weekend everyone!
  16. Thanks so much for that info - I was under the impression that all U.K. semi-finalists were interviewed. Now I won't stress so much or lose hope if I don't get called up for an interview. ?
  17. YES!!! Recommended for study in the U.K. at the University of Reading! Congrats to all other semi-finalists - I wish you all the best in the next cycle! This is my third year applying and making it to the semi-final round. I've never made the cut for a telephone interview, so I'm praying that the third time's the charm for me! ???????
  18. I got the dreaded "NS" email too.... I, too, had an inkling that I wouldn't get it when I wasn't selected for an interview, but some part of me still hoped I would be selected. That hope got crushed at 6:25pm PST today. My empathy goes out to you both, and I know that better and brighter things await us! I'm so happy for all of you who did get the UK Fulbright! May you enjoy every bit of your Fulbright experience!
  19. I too am desperately awaiting news from the UK - I was very upset when I didn't get notified last week; going off of past notifications, I assumed I would. I'm guessing either more people applied this year, the UK Fulbright Commission took longer to reach their decisions, or the Fulbright Board got behind in their notifications - there were a lot of notifications for other countries this week. I'm praying that they're almost done with their final selections, and that we get notified tomorrow. What university are you going for? I'm applying for Exeter. Fingers crossed for all of us!!
  20. AMEN!!! Last year UK notifications came out on 3/19, and on 3/18 the year before that! Praying hard that we get notified today!!!!
  21. I applied to my university (University of Exeter) as soon as I got the Fulbright Recommendation email - I figured it could only help my application. I also thought that if the Commission had to make a choice between someone who had already applied and been accepted to the university and someone who was still waiting to apply, it would show them how dedicated I am to using the Fulbright award. That's just me, though - good luck to you both!
  22. It might have no effect at all, but notifying the Fulbright Commission that I'd been accepted to the university I selected in my Fulbright application certainly can't hurt my chances.
  23. Thank you Rosy - getting that "Offer Letter" email made me exceedingly happy! Congrats to you too, btw! I would send her the letter anyway, just to be safe. You never know! I never got an interview invite, so I'm hoping that just means that my application alone was enough to portray my awesomeness. LOL I love that this thread exists and that we don't have to go through this waiting period alone!
  24. Hey everyone - I just got accepted to the UK university I want to use the Fulbright for (University of Exeter)! I asked Maria Mazer (IIE Program Mgr for Europe/Eurasia) if I needed to send my Offer Letter to IIE, since the Fulbright Award is conditional upon university acceptance, and she had me forward it to her, saying she'll forward it to the UK Fulbright Commission. Just wanted to let you all know in case you've been accepted at your respective universities - sending the offer letter might better our chances of getting the Fulbright! Good luck to us al!!!
