  1. I think this dependes on your focus. UCSD is very reputed for its training on sociology of culture. To be honest, I dont know much about Albany to compare, but I think it all comes down to subfield.
  2. I called Harvard and they said that all acceptances have been sent.
  3. Actually, you're exatcly right. I heard from POI that they would be pickier this year because of last year's large cohort.
  4. Would anyone claim the Notre Dame waitlisting? Did you refeive an e-mail?
  5. There have been rejections, one of which posted that the e-mail read: "The Graduate Admissions Committee recently reviewed applications to the graduate program in Sociology at Notre Dame and created a shortlist of prospective candidates based on academic record, experience, and fit with our program. We regret to inform you that you were not selected as one of those candidates..." This makes me wonder what is the situation for those of us not contacted at all.
  6. I'm currently a MAPSS student, and I'm all for the program, specially if you are considering a PhD after. If the PhD is really your goal, my advice is to choose a MA program that will better get you there. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
  7. For those recommended to MAPSS, who is accepting the offer?
  8. It seems that the MA acceptances in Columbia are only for people that were rejected from the PhD directly to the MA. There are 6 or 7 in the results, not counting people that are not around here. I wonder how many spots they have for the M.A. Does anyone know?
  9. For those who received MA acceptances from Columbia: have you heard anything at all before that?
