  1. It's not the same situation but my school address is an unusual one, and the zip code is often unrecognized. It has been difficult when ordering things, or applying for things that require an address. The lengthy explanations, the impracticality of having to make a simple process turn into an extended conversation- I suggest you seriously contemplate whether it will be worth it, and do you want all of your future work to be strangely credited, as well? I respect your conviction and your name. I just wonder if you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't take the time and expense now, to compromise - even if only for official documents and correspondence. Best of luck!
  2. Hi Caitlin, I applied by the January deadline, too, which was regular decision, not early decision, and I haven't heard anything, either. I think the early decision applicants are mostly who have received a response or a "too close to call" letter. You're not alone in anticipation. Hang in there... They said "March 24" so anything can still happen.
  3. Congratulations dp2065!!!! I will be starting in June, as well. It's all so exciting. This gradcafe forum has been extremely helpful... And continues to be- I appreciate you mentioning the Dispatches Blog, because I haven't looked at it in awhile and I'm still figuring a lot out- like working etc. You must be especially looking forward to beginning, after deferring-congrats again!
  4. Thank you izzyb92! I applied first week of January.
  5. I was accepted to NYU today! Uncertain about financial aid...
  6. Hi jalapeno_bagel, Did the email begin with this: "We have received your financial aid application for the 2015-16 year. If you are a continuing student or are admitted to the UW, and are eligible for aid, your application will go through a review process. We may ask you to provide information before or after we offer you aid. Please respond promptly to every request. Once we have awarded you aid, we will send you an award notice via email."? If so, I received it, too! Puzzling.
  7. Not sure about rent because it's been years since I lived there but the best martinis in the whole wide world are at Duvic's on Kalurah St.
  8. Thank you for the info! It is so thoughtful of you to share what you were told in your phone call. I applied the same time you did and I've been wondering when we might receive the decision. Good luck and thanks again!
  9. I will be greatly in debt, but I likely will accept. There are loan forgiveness opportunities I plan to pursue that will help. I realized I would be in debt when I chose to apply. It is worth it to me, because of the caliber of Smith and the unique program. I also think the block plan will make it more practical to work during the two years. I am excited and willing to be in debt. I see the cost as finite and the positives as infinite. (I realize many people reading this will see it differently and I enjoy hearing other perspectives as much as the next person, however: I am offering this as my perspective, not as an invitation for debate.)
  10. Congratulations and thanks for the info! Did you apply by early decision deadline or regular decision deadline?
  11. I was accepted to Smith today! I haven't heard from UW yet and I didn't apply to Hunter.
  12. I received my acceptance letter today!
