  1. Just moved to Princeton and living off-campus. Does anyone know which internet providers offer the best deals for home wifi?
  2. THANK YOU Bleep_Bloop!! I was not aware of TigerTrade and just checked it out. It looks like there are quite a few housing listings. Most are starting sooner than I need, but I will absolutley check back closer to fall if I don't like what the "room draw" sends me. Thanks again... getting excited to start this next grad school adventure!
  3. Do any current Princeton students have any tips/ pointers about off-campus options? I don't want to be too dependent on the mysteries of the "room draw!"
  4. I had a 160 on the verbal, 149 on qual and 4.5 for writing. I was admitted to RS Phd programs at several ivy league schools. The originality and importance of your ideas, as expressed in you personal statement and writing sample(s), is what matters most. Best advice I ever got: send less time fueling the testing-industrial-complex and more time thinking about how to meaningfully intervene in your chosen sub-field.
  5. Thanks for the insight Bleep_Bloop, I am keeping my fingers crossed... I applied well in advance of the deadline and said in my comment that I had trouble sharing space with others, which isn't true, but I thought maybe they'll put me in a one-bedroom or studio for the sake of my fellow students Any thoughts on off-campus housing? I've heard it's often more expensive and a car is another set of expenses I'd prefer to avoid. After many years of living on my own in a large city its kind of infantilizing to feel like my housing is so dependent on the whims of an institution.
  6. Can anyone speak to the chances of getting a one bedroom apartment, without a roommate, as an in-coming student? I don't really care which building it's in, or even how nice the building is, I just really, really want to live alone, and I own a whole apartment's worth of furniture. If you all think it's unlikely, what do you think I could do increase the odds?
  7. I got an offer from Princeton! woo hoo! Does anyone know if all the CU subfields send notifications at the same time? Also, how do you use "ApplyWeb" to see your results? I have one app up there that was rejected and it still says the status is 'submitted' ... am I missing something?
  8. Hi Oak Tree, NYU's Religious Studies MA often offers students considerable financial aid. The program is tiny (2 full-time faculty and only 3 students per cohort) but has very few recquired courses, so you could spend a lot of time in the Middle Eastern studies dept and take classes all over NYU.
  9. I don't know about other subfields, but American Religious History interviewed last week and faculty nominated students who they want to admit on Monday. An admissions committee at the grad school makes a final decision, I was told it would take two weeks.
  10. Thanks for the info! I am a life-long New Yorker and have personal relationships with CU faculty in my subfield , so *really hoping* they'll will allow me to stay-put, but Emory interview felt a little more energetic/ promising. Let me know how you're decisions shake-out as well, here's to future colleagues!
  11. Thanks for the tip doobs, any idea if that date is specific to your subfield? I interviewed in American Religious Cultures and would obviously love some resolution by this week. Anyone have a sense of Columbia's timeline? I intreviewed almost two weeks ago...
  12. Hi rlg, I got an Emory interview and I am not in NT. If they make me an offer I might not take it... so you're still in the running!
  13. Hi Aubstopper- yea, that was me. Yale is also my first choice! I've had some previous interactions with the professor who e-mailed me and who I hope to work with. I wish she gave me a date and time for the interview, I am on pins and needles! She even said "I apologize for the brevity of this note." Totally weird.
  14. U.S, this e-mail was so vague I made my first ever forum post to investigate
