Hi guys, i am going to contact some professors for a research internship and i am really confused about the composition of the email. My confusion stems from that; should i include technical ideas or questions or just some general topics that the professor's lab is working on?? If i included some technical ideas, would that compromise my email or would make it as if i am knowledgeable and did my homework in researching and coming up with some interesting new ideas? Need you help urgently!!
AT first, before embarking to shift from wet bench lab to computational science, you should have a good background in Bioinformatics and programming ( python and R in particular ). There are some wonderful online MOOCs that could be of paramount benefit to you and here are some :
1. https://www.coursera.org/course/bioinformatics
2. https://www.coursera.org/course/bioinformatics2
3. https://www.coursera.org/learn/bioinformatics-methods-1
4. https://www.coursera.org/learn/bioinformatics-methods-2
5. https://www.coursera.org/course/pythonlearn
6. https://www.edx.org/course/cs-all-introduction-computer-science-harveymuddx-cs005x
I hope this helps
Okay, here is my situation. I am an international student who got a conditional offer for a master by research in cancer biology at Imperial with no funding. Unfortunately , all the schemes for scholarships are now closed and i do not want to be burdened by loans. So, i hope that grad students at Imperial could guide me through any possible other options for funding or any info pertaining to this topic.
3 years research experience, 4 projects, excellent LORS, novel ideas to be employed in synthetic biology, and yet rejected from Oxford, what the heck are they looking for ?
But after contemplating , i thank GOD that i was rejected, maybe if i got admitted, i would suffer from a stone age prof.
