  1. Anyone else get in here? I'm going for biomedical sciences to study neuroscience. I'm looking to move in July, so if anyone needs a room mate, message me!
  2. They have one coming up in May, but I'm going to start trying to find a place immediately. Though I'll sleep in the MRI machines if I have to, haha
  3. I have been accepted to the Master's in biomedical science program with a focus in neuroscience! I am stoked because this was my top choice. I'd prefer a PhD program, but there's a lack of grants to pay the PhD stipend right now, but if the funds are available I can apply to the PhD program and transfer to it. Now to find a place to live. Anyone looking for a room mate in Charleston, SC?
  4. This is a moot topic now, I was officially admitted today
  5. Thanks. This is my first time seeking grad school admissions, so it's kind of hard for me to know when I'm being unreasonably paranoid and impatient and when I really ought to be concerned.
  6. I had an interview on Tuesday the 17th at MUSC for a master's program. The interview went very well. The next Thursday, I got a response to a thank you e-mail stating that pending the rest of the decision's committee, she can guarantee me a spot in her lab. She also mentioned that she wasn't sure when the admissions committee would meet, but that it should be soon and she would strongly vouch for my admission. So, I've got someone who definitely wants me in her lab, but I have not heard anything since that e-mail response on Thursday. It has been two more business days now, and I've yet to receive any kind of notification one way or another. I know she wants me in her program, but lack of notice makes me paranoid. Has anyone here applied to MUSC and been accepted or rejected? Do they notify you via email or letter?
  7. I had an interview at MUSC for their master's program in biomedical science, for a focus on neuroscience. I initially met with the doctor overseeing master's graduate admissions. She commented that I had a good GRE score and a good psychology subject test GRE score. She showed me around campus, then took me to meet with another doctorate who oversees the admissions for the neuroscience track for the biomedical sciences. She and I clicked right off. She and I have very similar theoretical viewpoints and research interests, and she seemed to be pretty eager to have me join her lab. She used a lot of inclusive language. Both had recommended that I apply to transfer to the PhD program after my first year, and said that it sounds like it would be good for me to get my PhD and become a post-doctoral researcher. Would they act like this and talk about me going for my doctorate and later for a post-doc position if they didn't plan on accepting me? I'm just wondering how common it is for interviews for graduate programs to go very well, then reject you.
  8. Is a resume necessary? What should I have with me when I come?
  9. They want to do a phone interview next week. Has anyone else applied to, or even better, attended this school? I'd like to know what to expect so I can be prepared for the questions they ask. I tend to get very nervous (social anxiety) and don't want to seem like a total dolt or pull blanks because I can't think, so having an idea what to expect exactly would help. Thanks!
  10. At what point might it be appropriate to contact someone in the program to find out if I am likely to be rejected?
  11. Yeah I keep getting these invites to random programs that have misleading sounding subject lines. For a split second I think it's an acceptance email. Lameee!
  12. Or, did anyone apply to the biomedical programs at MUSC? Just curious if anyone else out there applied to the same programs as me.
  13. Thanks for letting me know! I just wanted to be sure. The only activity I have heard is MUSC let me know one of my letter's of recommendation never made it to the school, I assume USPS had lost it, and had the professor send it again. They received it last week. My University of SC applications (three programs there I applied to) all still say "Decision Pending". I see all the people here starting to hear news and the lack of news in light of that fact is getting at me, haha
  14. I'm starting to drive myself a bit nuts waiting. I have not heard anything about acceptance or rejection. I have seen many people state they were notified of rejection, so I assume this is universal for them to tell you you did not get in? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
