  1. Congrats on getting accepted! I know someone who got title IV last year and the process took about 1-2 months post admission to the program. I believe the contact person for the stipend (Ken) would call you to schedule an interview and about 2 weeks after that you would be notified. You should call him, I'm sure he would get back to you fairly quick from what I remember. I did not apply for the stipend.
  2. Would any of you have an idea of how much it would cost to attend the 3 year track at SDSU? I've been trying to calculate and the number seems "low", I'm getting about 14k for the 3 years. I was accepted into the 2 year track at Monterey Bay so now it's gonna have to come down to the numbers. I have lived in San Diego all my life so my support system is here, but like others, finishing in 3 years seems quite long. I have to decide ASAP to accept Monterey Bay.
  3. @anony2888 sorry to hear that. I hope you hear from the other 2 schools and accept your best option !
  4. I got into the 3 year track! I checked the mail last night, I received the letter apparently this weekend 2/19/16 (almost missed the deadline) I'm excited, it will take a little longer but I'm happy My webportal has not been updated therefor I had no idea. Check your mail everyone else who is still waiting!
  5. @MSW2016 I haven't, I'm already preparing for a rejection :/ GPA. 2.87 GRE 4.0 Hours at time of application: 10,380 Although my GPA isn't competitive my experience comes from multiple big orgs like MHS, SBCS, lobbying in Sacramento... amongst other diverse experience that I feel could help me where my GPA doesn't.
  6. @jclay005 do you know if San Marcos is accepting applications on a rolling basis? (I know last year they did) I skipped applying there because the program is what like 30k? But at this I'm filled with anxiety and it's almost the end of Feb! ... I'm also waiting to hear back from Monterey Bay. The wait sucks. Congrats to everyone else who already received their acceptances
  7. Same here! Submitted my application on December 14th and waiting patiently. I was denied admission last year around March 6 via email (and a letter in the mail a few days after) and from what I remember people started getting acceptances as early as 1/29/15 through Feb 2015. With the new paperless application process, who knows how long it will take this time around... Good luck everyone
  8. Hi ginabina! I went to a CSULB info sesh early this month and was completely discouraged! The room was filled and there was people standing. My GPA is not great hence the feeling discouraged, BUT I will still give it a shot. I'm applying to SDSU, CSULB and was also considering CSUDH. My stats are OK, my GPA isn't competitive and hope the school really looks at applicants holistically. GPA 2.87 Over five years in the human services field including experience as domestic violence counselor, community outreach, teaching pregnancy prevention and health relationships, case managing, therapeutic behavioral counselor. Strong letters of rec And well rounded personal background... So, we'll see how it goes. I was denied admission from SDSU last year so I hope my tenacity adds some points when the panel is deciding on tenacity! Good luck
  9. Hi! I have started to work on my application, or at least attempted to, and well I find this interfolio online way of doing things very overwhelming. I guess I'm a control freak and like to have the actual application in my hands. Also, the references section is so confusing. How is everyone else doing with this? The reference section? Do we upload a document in there first? I have been in touch with the dept and suggested I call the help number if I get stuck somewhere along the way...
  10. Aw man! I wish I would've found this forum back in December to at least vent all my stress! ( I kept finding past years' posts). The level of stress experienced from this was CRAZY. Congrats to all who got in! I am processing my rejection and hoping to meet with admissions director for some feedback. I was denied first via email on 3/3 and received a letter on Friday 3/6 (letter was dated for 3/9) I'm super bummed since I thought I had a chance. My GPA isn't competitive (2.87) but overall I am a well-rounded student (even got accepted to Peace Corps and I terminated my service) Scored a 4 on GRE, submitted my application in October and had SOLID letters of rec. Additionally my personal statement was strong and even explained the reason behind my GPA (lack of exposure, first generation college student etc.) I have always worked in non-profits, grassroots orgs so I have over 8000 hours of experience. It is sad that a university prefers a high number than a well rounded student who is dedicated to the field. I will try again next year! Good luck to you all !!!
