  1. Hey guys, I go to Western- feel free to message me if you have any questions about the program
  2. Hey guys, I will be going to Western as well, just wondering if anyone is planning on working part time during the program? I have heard it is very difficult to work but I have always worked throughout my undergrad and I"m not willing to not work and accumulate massive debt, anyone else in the same situation?
  3. Hey guys, just checking- for accepting via ORPAS- firm acceptance means your name is taken off the waitlist at other schools and provisional acceptance you can keep your name on the waitlist at other schools? So if I pick provisional acceptance it will just change to firm acceptance if I don't get into another school or tell them otherwise?
  4. Omg got an acceptance email as well! I just woke up my whole family...Except it's almost 1 am so I can't call call people to freak out!
  5. I also got put on the wait list!! This gives me hope for other schools now. I also have poor GRE scores so looks like that may not be a huge deal. Does anyone know how many people they would put on a wait list?
  6. I'm assuming you can just put it under volunteer experience- that's what I was thinking of doing. Does anyone else know if we can put work experience under volunteer for ORPAS?
  7. Hey Amber, I see you are from Guelph? I went to Guelph for my undergrad! I applied last year to UofT and Western but didn't get in so this year I am doing one year at Brock to get more speech-related pre-reqs. (I studied Child and Youth at Guelph). I'm also going to apply to Alberta and Dal. Although I haven't gotten it yet, I try to talk to everyone I can about applications! One of my profs this year gave me the advice to get the best marks possible. Since you already have a lot of volunteer experience, try not to overwhelm yourself with volunteering because someone with higher marks usually gets in over someone with lower marks and a ton of volunteering. (I have heard it's usually 50% grades and 50% for everything else but not sure if that's true). Maybe do a few hours this semester but do too much that your grades suffer. Also if you don't get in the first time it is much easier to get more volunteering experience than it is to boost your GPA after you have already graduated since a few more courses won't make much difference to your GPA. Also try really hard to get good marks in your prereq courses (I know for UofT they want at least a B+ in all of your prereqs). If you want to talk about anything feel free to message me!
  8. I'm in the same boat- going to be applying for four Canadian schools but would be good to apply to some American ones as well. Anyone else know of any schools in the US that don't have crazy international fees? It also seems like a lot of them have a lot of prerequisites. I'm currently doing a one year certificate program at Brock University and I still won't have enough courses for many of them!
  9. Hey guys, just thought I'd ask about letters of reference- how did you go about getting reference letters from profs if you haven't done any research? I'm looking at doing the one year program at Brock and want to get to know profs to get some better reference letters.
  10. Hi everyone, I applied to UofT and Western this year and didn't get in.....just wondering if some of the people who got in would be willing to share their grades/experience? I've had a look through some of the comments for ideas to boost my application but any other help would be awesome!! My sub GPA is 3.81- i have a placement in speech path from my undergrad and some volunteer hours but could definitely do some more with other populations. I have also been looking into the one year program at Brock in Speech and Language to get some of the pre-reqs for the other universities...anyone with experience in this program?
