Curious - if an international student is willing to attend a school with the understanding that he/she will not get a grant, is it possible to convince that institution to accept you?: I'm not saying this is what you or anyone else would want, but i'm just curious if this is possible?

i was not happy with my first interview either. It's too bad that one of my top choices was my first interview. Good luck in the future! Maybe you will be surprIsed.

Acceptance to Pitts IBGP! So excited. i interviewed there the weekend of 1/20.

This is happening at some of the schools I'm interviewing at. I was a little surprised.

Congrats to both of you! i guess i can write off Sloan Kettering Although until i receive a rejection, there is always a teensy little bit of hope left.

I haven't heard back yet. I predict that we should hear on Friday. Just a guess, intuition etc. My fingers are crossed!

Officially rejected from Columbia

Does anyone know approximately how long you are given to respond when an acceptance is offered? A few weeks? This is probably different for each school but is there an average?

Did anyone receive a rejection from Columbia? I realize that i probably was rejected since i did not receive an interview invite, but i was not officially rejected. Does Columbia send rejections?

I have started classes and realized that i am overextended - interview and class schedule. There is one school that I have scheduled an interview with but i know i will probably not attend. Canceling the interview would ease my schedule and also open the door for someone else. What is the best way to contact the school and politely cancel? I feel absolutely horrible about this. Please advise. Thank you, all!
