Hello all, I have been searching for potential PhD English programs for quite a while, and could now use a bit of wisdom from others. I am currently searching for PhD programs in 19th Century British Literature (specifically, Victorian) that would allow me to focus my research in the relationship between religion and literature during this period. This area seems to be blossoming more outside of the U.S., but I am wanting to stay in the country for graduate study. In looking at the research being done in this field, it appears that most of those publishing are either 1) in the U.K. or Canada, 2) from theology departments or divinity schools, or 3) in English departments that only have undergraduate programs. The two exceptions I seem to have found are Washington University of St. Louis and Baylor. (Despite some of the info on the website at Boston College, I have heard that this area of interest among the faculty seems to be waning.) Does anyone else know of places that I should check into? Thanks!
