  1. Any advice on this? I cold emailed a lot for grad school applications, but it feels way more intimidating to do it for a paid position they aren't advertising. Did you attach a CV or anything like that in the initial email, and how were you able to (respectfully) make it clear you were looking for a full time paid position, not to volunteer? Money makes everything more complicated
  2. Got into Georgia Southern's Experimental MS program. They said info about funding would be sent separately - anyone know about how long MS programs take to let you know about funding?
  3. I've decided to buffer myself by applying to research-based experimental psychology Masters programs. I chose to only apply to schools that offer funding for their psychology Masters programs, since I am not in the position to take out more loans. On the application pages, all the schools ask me if I am planning to get loans to pay for my education; since these are all programs that are known to fund at least a good portion of their MS/MA students it kind of threw me off. Is there a chance that not applying for graduate loans makes me a less appealing candidate?
  4. I thought I had seen something like that but I wasn't sure if they differentiated between the 2 campuses on interview dates. Thanks for the confirmation!
  5. Social Psych programs from Rutgers and University of Washington-Seattle?
  6. I've decided to apply to a few as well (in my signature) in addition to my phd programs but they were all later deadlines (Feb 15th was the earliest one) so it'll be a while before I hear anything. Hopefully not too long though -- I don't want to put off applying for jobs any longer than I have to.
  7. I saw this posted on the SPSP CareerConnect page and I really want to apply, but I'm waiting to hear back from grad apps still (especially the MA one's I've just submitted) and don't want to potentially commit to a position until I know for sure. Do you know how long the timeline is? I saw that they will keep taking applications until the position is filled but I just can't imagine a great position like this one will stay open for long! Which is unfortunate because it's absolutely perfect for my interests.
  8. I've no idea. I saw that my POI was located in New Brunswick so that's the one I applied to when the application asked me to specify.
  9. I almost have a mini heart attack every time I see a school I applied to on the search results page, before noticing it's all for clinical programs right now! I applied to the Rutgers New Brunswick, but out of curiosity, if the people who got invites from Rutgers Newark wouldn't mind sharing their POI (over PM) that would be great!
  10. 2 weeks ago was right before Christmas and New Years and many schools are still on vacation - many don't check their email during the holidays, except maybe to spare a cursory glance. That's a consideration too.
  11. Well from when invites tend to out versus when the program says invitations will go out, it seems that this may be the case. I can certainly understand why, but it does suck for those of us holding out without realizing that invites have already been sent.
  12. Ah I see. One of my advisors friends went to Columbia when they did have a separate Social program, so I was expecting it to be under Social, not Experimental. I certainly wasn't expecting the invitations to go out so soon, especially since their website said January, but the more I think about it, I'm sure they just say Jan to give themselves a buffer in case they fall behind. Thank's for clearing that up! Ah well. 5 to go!
  13. I haven't seen anything posted in the search results page for Columbia Social PHD yet, and it looks like that will go out around mid-Jan from the results of previous years. Looks like the only thing that's Sent out this early is MA stuff through Columbia teachers college.
  14. Yes. I'm still waiting to hear as well. It was definitely a reach school so I won't be surprised if I don't hear anything !
