  1. I am on the waitlist for advanced. I haven't heard anything either :///
  2. Hi, I got rejected from York, so it could be worse. I hope you can get in!
  3. Has anyone received a rejection for the the advanced MSW at York? Still waiting to hear back from them..they said we should know by the end of the week
  4. Hi all, I emailed York to find out when everyone will hear back as I haven't gotten a lucky phone call sadly. Joelle said that we should all hear back by the end of the month.
  5. Just got a rejection from Ryerson 😕 If we ask, can they give us a reason for the rejection?
  6. Ok, I heard back. I have been waitlisted. Grrr. wondering how many applicants get rejected vs waitlisted. Does anyone know?
  7. Still waiting to hear back from U of T advanced stream. I got permission to submit my application in late because I had COVID. How healthy is checking ACORN every 15 minutes? LOL
  8. HI, Will I hear back if I am rejected for my MSW U of T application (advanced)? My last name starts with K, and I havent heard back yet.
  9. Hey all, I applied to U of T MSW advanced standing. I called the school, and they said decisions will be sent out this week and early next week in the application portal.
  10. Hello! I am applying to York and TMU (Ryerson). Debating on applying to U of T. With regard to references, do you use the same referees for all applications? Do you get concerned about overwhelming your referees if they have to write reference letters for several schools? I hate to inconvenience my referees. I feel like I am well suited for grad school, but I am overwhelmed with the application process. Does anyone know of a site where students post reviews of the msw program they attended? My concern is that U of T will not be critical enough for me, although I dont mind that it is course-based. I am currently doing my BSW at McMaster, and it is quite anti oppressive and critical.
  11. Hi all, I am kinda just hijacking the thread for a microsecond, but bear with me, as i think this forum is a good place to ask this question- I just got accepted into the 2 year bsw program at mcmaster AND trent. Now all I have to do is decide and i have two days!!! I am looking for any insight here- I think the program at mcmaster is more established, looks more social justice-y, and has more interesting syllabi. Trent Durham is closer, and the courses may be a little easier? I took a few courses with them and my grades were amazing!! I want to do an MSW afterwards somewhere. Should I go to Trent where i get higher grades and maybe not as exciting teaching, or should i go to McMaster that has a more established social work program, but where the courses may be harder and where my grades may suffer? As i am typing this, i think i kind of know mcmaster might be better for me. Does anyone else who went to these schools or has been in the bsw program and applying to msws have any further insight?? Thank you! (For context, I went to George Brown for the SSW, which I loved, and have an unrelated BA. I have been working in housing for the past few years.)
  12. Hello, I applied to Lakehead for this year, and have been waitlisted. As it starts in a week or so, I guess I will not be getting in. Applied to Ryerson 3 year BSW and got rejected. I have an unrelated degree. Does anyone know how it works when trying to bump up your GPA? If you take a new course will the oldest course in whatever last 1 or two years be eliminated, or is it the lowest grade? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for courses to take? Thanks
