  1. @FoxAndChicken Thanks! That hair color looks so cool! I wish I could dye my hair like that! I really like the urban planning program at Cal Poly, but the UC Davis transportation technology & policy is also a great choice and it's a lot closer to my boyfriend. I really have to think this through!!! Probably won't be able to sleep tonight!
  2. I finally heard back from the last school!!! I got admitted to all of the 3 schools I applied for (All were masters program without funding, but I'm happy I got in!). Now it's decision time. Wish everyone still waiting the best of luck!!!
  3. Congrats! How I wish I was in your shoes right now...
  4. It seems like my first choice program tend to make admission decisions pretty late in the season (end of March to early April). The wait is killing me....
  5. I check my email 1-2 times a day due to restricted internet access...I received my 2 acceptance emails (UCSB on 2/20 and Cal Poly on 3/5), but I'm still anxiously waiting for the email from UCD. Has anyone heard from them?
  6. Thank you fuzzlylogician, your help is greatly appreciated! I just got turned down by a professor but I will keep trying.
  7. I'm sort of going through the same dilemma myself...but if I were you, I'd go with choice #1. It seems more reasonable, and I doubt the professor will explicitly say " I do not know the student personally". And the admission office might assume the professor is familiar with you. This is my guess. I'd appreciate it if anyone could respond my post on choosing a LOC writer if you have a minute. Thanks!
  8. Hi guys. This is my first time posting here. I'm trying to apply for a Master's program in either urban planning or environmental science. The LOC is always the part I struggle with the most in every application. My supervisor at work has agreed to write a LOC for me. Here are a few of my choices for whom to ask for the other 2. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated! 1. Professors. I'm a rather shy person and was never talkative in class and rarely attended any office hours. I graduated 2 years ago and I'm not sure if my professors remember me at all. I have 1 professor in mind who lead my interest to urban planning, and I hope she'll agree to write me an LOC. However, most schools I apply for recommends 2 letters from the academics field, and I have a hard time finding the second professor because I know they are very busy and I didn't really work with any of them. 2. CEO of the company. I work at a small company and the CEO has been very nice to me. My supervisor will write an LOC for me. I'm not sure if another letter from the CEO would be a good option considering my situation. 3. Volunteer supervisor at CDFW I volunteered at California Dept of Fish & Wildlife on and off for 5 months. When I left my supervisor agreed to write me an LOC. I did not do research work at CDFW, but it might be helpful if I couldn't find the second professor. Please let me know what you think would be my best option...Best of luck to everyone applying & studying. Thanks.
  9. If you are looking for wildlife-related experience, there are many wildlife-related volunteer opportunities in the Sacramento area, like CDFW, USGS, USWFS, etc. Many employees at CDFW are UCD alumni and would welcome volunteers. I volunteered briefly at the CDFW regional headquarter in Rancho Cordova last year. There are many experts working in the office and they frequently offer wildlife survey/study trips and classes for you to attend. My supervisor also offered to write me recommendation letters in the future when I left. I think this experience and recommendation from experts in the field will boost your chance of getting into a wildlife biology program. Wish you all the best!
