  1. @another_student UTHealth does offer some funding for new PhD students. Unfortunately, the process is pretty unclear and I am not sure that it is guaranteed for PhD students (as is typical at other programs). I was accepted last year and received a phone call with a funding offer months after the decision - well after I had already accepted an offer somewhere else (with funding).
  2. @pulsars Thanks! I haven't decided yet - choosing between Michigan and Minnesota. Best of luck to you with Real Analysis and applications!
  3. I'm a college senior and I've been accepted to multiple Biostat PhD programs without taking Real Analysis. I don't say that to mean you shouldn't take it (you should! I think it is still a huge plus on an application and am not looking forward to taking it next year while in grad school), but rather that I was freaking out a bit while applying that nobody would accept me because I didn't have the course. Of course I'm no expert, but based on my experience I would say it's probably fine to take it in the fall of your senior year. From my understanding, most application committees don't meet until after the semester ends anyway and you'd be able to send your updated grades in.
  4. I heard back on February 19th. I have no idea if that means you've been rejected -- it's very possible they send out acceptances in waves. You could check with the department!
  5. I've been admitted there as well and I have yet to hear anything about visit days. No idea if it is something they have done in the past or not.
  6. Has anyone else been invited to University of Minnesota's recruiting weekend February 15-17 (not really a weekend) for biostatistics? Anyone planning on going? Has anyone attended in the past? I'm not sure what to expect! Most advice I see for weekends like this are for interviews - but I've already been accepted and there won't be an interview component. Does this change anything about what I should expect for the visit?
  7. Has anyone heard from Emory for biostatistics PhD programs? They are one of my top choices and I haven't heard anything yet!
