  1. Hi All! I am currently a Junior double majoring in Psychology and Sociology with a 3.75 GPA at a top 25 institution. I recently took the GRE and got my scores back: V: 159 (80th percentile) Q: 161 (81st percentile) W: 4.5 (80th percentile) My question is whether or not I should retake them? I am considering top joint Ph.D. programs in Public Policy/Sociology or Social Psychology and Social Work from schools like UMich, Princeton, Stanford, UCLA, Berkeley, UChicago, UWisconsin, etc. I currently have 1 year of research experience working with a professor who has told me I will be in the acknowledgments of her book when it is finally published, I was selected and worked in the UMich research lab with a faculty member this summer (not one who I would want to work with for a Ph.D. though), and am currently working on a manuscript to be potentially published this semester. I plan to do an honor's thesis and have also won awards for leadership, service, and been the President of our Honor Society and various service orgs and clubs. I also was an AmeriCorps member...with all of these qualifications, do you all think that I should still retake the GRE to better secure admission to a Ph.D. program? I definitely have at least 3 very strong recommendations, so I am really hoping no, because I HATE standarized testing.
