  1. From time to time, I check the GradWatch online portal for North Carolina State University. Yesterday a new section appeared on my application profile at GradWatch under the title "Interim Advisor" with a professor name just behind it. I googled the professor's name and found out that his research interests are directly related to my field of research. Does this mean that he recommended me for admission to their department ? Because I am 100% sure that this section "Interim Advisor" had never existed just before yesterday. I know I am speculating a lot about a trivial topic, but it truly means a lot to me if this happens to be the case.
  2. I haven't had any interview with Columbia professors and I believe I will receive a rejection soon. Having said that, there is always a slim chance for me of being admitted when some accepted applicants turn down their offers.
  3. Thank you for your comment. It is a huge relief to know that UCSD would give another round of admission. I will put all my hopes on the next round and I am prepared for the worst. Wish you all the best of luck too Cheers.
  4. Thank you for letting me know. At least I can now be psychologically ready for their rejection letter.
  5. I heard that calling the graduate school is kind of impolite. Though It is likely that I will give them a call on early March.
  6. I have applied for the Ph.D. program in EE at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and Columbia University on the 9th of Dec. I can see from the Results Search on Gradcafe that there are some students already received their admission results from these two universities ( 16 students got accepted at UCSD + 12 students got accepted at Columbia). I have not yet received any news from these two universities. I also have not contacted any professor before applying to UCSD and Columbia. Would this be a reason for not hearing back yet from them ? Should I assume that I would be already rejected ?? These are my two dream universities and I really wish to hear back from them. I also applied to other universities and got 3 offers so far, but I am waiting to hear from Columbia and UCSD before deciding my best option.
  7. Received my first admission offer from the University of Arizona. However, there is no information about the deadline for accepting or rejecting the offer of admission. Also, the admission letter was electronic via their website. I have not yet received the official certificate of admission. I am extremely excited for the ECE Ph.D. program at UoA, however, I need to carefully consider all my options, and hence need to know the deadline for accepting their offer.
  8. If you don't mind asking you what universities did you apply for ? Only then I can tell you if it is worth to send your 2nd GRE score.
  9. When does the first round for EE admission decision start ? Is it sometime on mid-feb ? I have applied for 10 US universities for Ph.D. in EE but so far have not received any news.
  10. I think you are pretty much in the safe side and should not be concerned with being rejected. Considering your excellent GRE score and that you are applying to fairly medium-low tier schools, you should be easily accepted to any of these universities. Just make sure that you prepare a good SOP to highlight your strong work experience and academic skills. All the best luck.
  11. I have just finished from my second gre exam and received the following score: Q: 161, V: 143, AWA: bending My first GRE score was as follow: Q: 158, V: 148, AWA: 3.5 I feel I will receive higher AWA score in the second test (probably greater than or equal to 4) I have already applied to the following universities for a Ph.D. Program in Electrical Engineering: 1- Columbia University, 2- University of California, San Diego, 3- University of California, Santa Barbara, 4-Univeesity of California, Davis, 5-University of Colorado, Boulder, 6-University of Arizona, 7-Arizona State University, 8- North Carolina State University, 9-Virginia Tech, 10- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I have excellent research experience with 3 publications and my GPA is 3.5. I also have strong recommendation letters and good SOP and CV. Please advice me on which GRE score should I report to the universities listed above. I would really appreciate your help.
