  1. Jeez! That is pretty late. Your reasoning makes total sense. I went to a recruiting event they had back in November, and I loved how friendly the admissions team was. Some alumni came as well, and they were all up to some pretty interesting things. I almost decided to only apply to Brown at that point (I definitely romanticize the school a bit - part of me wishes I went there for my undergrad). In any case, kinks or no kinks, I don't think you'd go wrong with Brown, even if it's not mentioned a lot here. I only applied to Brown, Sanford, and McCourt, so now I'm in the anxiety-ridden decisions process Best of luck to you!
  2. Hey - I also applied to Brown, but back in December (I think around the 22nd). I received an acceptance on 2/16 (and didn't get any updates about my application being under review or anything before that, so I get what you mean about the crickets). I'm sorry that they never responded to your email, but as you can see I didn't hear anything until well after the four week mark. I agree that the revamped program is super appealing (love that one of the global policy experiences is in Stockholm), but I do have my reservations about attending a program that is new...there may be some kinks to work out.
  3. I'll be there! Just booked my flights today.
  4. I don't think that's necessarily true! If you look at the Fall admissions cycle thread, someone just got an acceptance from them yesterday. Hang in there - I know from experience that self-doubt rears its ugly head during this whole process, but I wouldn't assume you're getting a rejection.
  5. I received an acceptance email 1-2 weeks ago. I'm excited, but still waiting to hear about funding. It looks like acceptances have been trickling in, so I'm sure you'll hear back soon
  6. Well, here's hoping that by some miracle we find out tomorrow! I've been delaying booking flights for a wedding I'm going to because I'm not sure if I'll need to make a quick stop in Durham for the open house. I hope everyone else is hanging in there!
  7. Thought I'd get on board the school-specific threads and start one for Duke! Anyone else waiting to hear back? It seems like people heard on the last Friday of February the past couple of years...alas.
  8. Ha! I'd definitely take 10 minutes of pain if it meant getting a fellowship. This is what the application cycle has done to me.
  9. I got my first acceptance while I was getting my underarms waxed. I got my second acceptance while I was getting a haircut. So, an esthetician and a hair stylist were the first people to find out about my acceptances. Contemplating booking some other personal grooming appointment for this afternoon in hopes that it brings more good news
  10. Just got an email from Duke saying that my application is under review. Eek! Also, fellow Sanford applicants, April 1st is their open house date. Seems like a popular open house weekend...
  11. Hi guys, I've been working on my academic statement for Georgetown for some time, and I'm still worried that it's not 'quantitative' enough. I don't mention how to use these certain "sophisticated quantitative tools" because, frankly, I don't really know how to use them yet! Ideally, an MPP will teach me . So, is it enough to write about a specific policy and why quantitative analysis would help measure its effectiveness/impact? Or should I get a quick refresher on chi-squared tests and cost benefit analysis? Here's the prompt for your reading pleasure: The McCourt School's MPP program emphasizes analytical rigor and using sophisticated quantitative tools where appropriate. Why do you think analytical rigor is important for policy analysis? Use a current policy issue to demonstrate your reasoning. (Max 500 words)
