  1. Ahh! My friend just told me his says decision made too. Mine still says "Application Complete" Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I guess time will tell Good luck!
  2. Has anyone heard back from Memorial? I remember someone posting on here that decisions would be send out on March 23rd. I know the mail is slow, but that seems like a long time to hear nothing... Ugh. My status still says "application complete", but no "decision made" yet. I just called, but I got a voice mail and was too chicken to leave a message lol!
  3. Hi All. Hope everyone is having a semi-relaxing Friday! I know its hard to take a breath between finishing up final assignments and trying to be patient in limbo for those who are still waiting for final decisions. Take time this weekend, even for an hour to go for a walk, breathe in some fresh air, and enjoy the little things like noticing the tulips and crocuses trying to poke their heads out of the grounds. It's a sign of good things to come and a new season - whatever it may bring. You have all worked so hard to get to where you are now and no matter what the decision, it was all worth it and one day you will look back and realize the amazing things and people you encountered along the way. The hard work will pay off and you will all be amazing social workers. I know first-hand how hard it can be to wait, as this was my third attempt at grad school. It is never too late to pursue what you love. I'll be waiting there with you on Tuesday next week to see what news might arrive. Good luck to all of you and may April come soon!
  4. I am currently finishing up my BSW at Dal. I love it. I was surprised at how much as Dal is a very big and mostly medically-focused school. However the school of social work is very different. However, saying that, we have many opportunities to collaborate with other students in the core health professionals such as OP, PT, nurses, doctors and pharmacists, through projects and mini courses focused on client-centred health care. The program has a strong, social justice, feminist and anti-oppressive focus. We do a lot of research and critical reflection and we also spend a lot of time considering how we hold power as social workers. The program has helped me to examine me worldview in a very deep way. I have been told the masters program is very similar, although they have higher academic expectations. The BSW was not very clinical at all, but many of the MSW placements are clinical (hospital and community health care based). It is also a small group ( I think only 30 in the MSW) and its a very close-knit community). To be honest, I have not heard anything about eco-feminism and environmental SW. They are not listed as courses, however they could defiantly be concepts covered in classes. Hope that helps a bit
  5. Hey CJM101, Congrats to you too! Yes, I also received my official letter earlier this week. Although I am still waiting on MUN, I will pay the deposit for Dal to hold my spot if I don't hear anything by the 15th, as it's my first choice. I am still on the fence though if I get into both. How about you? Where did you do your BSW?
  6. 4 hours ago, mswmswmsw said: To anyone awaiting a response from MUN - I just spoke with an administrator there and was told they'd be letting people know by the end of the month! ............. Thanks for this! I had been considering calling too. Ugh, what a long time to wait. Well, at least I can stop checking the website every day haha. Good luck to you both!!!
  7. Does anyone know anything about the MUN (Memorial University) MSW program? I haven't heard back yet about admission, but I am curious about if other have studied there in the past. They seem to have a strong focus on research and social justice.
  8. Congrats to you too! Windsor is an awesome school! One of my classmates just got in there too
  9. Ok... shut the front door!! Literally just heard the mailbox door shut and ran out side! I've been accepted to DAL!! A conditional acceptance pending Faculty of Grad studies approval. I am shaking. I was just giving myself the "you most likely didn't get in, but that's ok" speech, lol. I have been working for 4 years to get accepted into grad school, with 2 failed attempts and 1 year of upgrading courses within that time frame. This means so much to me. I know may of you understand the struggles and barriers to becoming accepted, as an older student. I wish all of you the best of luck and please do not give up if this is something you are dreaming to do!! xoxox
  10. My friend just got a mail acceptance to Dal MSW on campus! A bunch of us have applied, but the others and myself I haven't heard anything yet. My account says "written notification to follow" eeekkkk!! lol Still waiting on Memorial MSW too
  11. Yes! I applied to MUN and Dalhousie. I have heard the MUN is quite competitive, however I have only heard this from people applying from Halifax. Are you applying to any other schools? I'd love to hear feedback from any current MUN MSW students.
