This will probably be my last post on here for a while..I was accepted to SAIC's Printmedia MFA program, my #1 choice, on Thursday, 3/10 after interviewing on campus on Saturday, 2/27. I opened my official acceptance and financial aid letters on Monday, 3/14 to find out I have been offered the department-based Dean's Scholarship equating to 1/3 of tuition! As a result, I will be relocating to Chicago and attending this fall! I think this website gave me a lot of unnecessary anxiety during the interview and admissions processes. There seems to be a lot of inaccurate information circulating around boards like this, so my advice is to be patient and get the facts straight from the school if you can. Otherwise, some things are worth the wait, albeit excruciating towards the end. Good luck to everyone in your endeavors!

I think I heard that it varies depending on the quality of applications. I remember someone saying there is either one full-ride or two partials given.

Accepted to SAIC Printmedia late this afternoon and will be attending for the great facilities, supportive alumni, and overall sense of community. So stoked!

I asked around and it seemed generally fine, however I was told to keep it casual and concise. I did this recently and actually got a polite response back from one of my interviewers. Hope that helps!

@Madi1897 The last I heard was that the committee is still processing applications. In addition, I was informed that some applicants are automatically accepted and don't have to interview. Hope that helps!

Thanks for your help. I submitted an entirely visual arts-based portfolio, without a writing sample. I just got off the phone with a representative from the department explaining they are still making decisions and that it could even be next week before some of us hear back.

I'm presuming rejection at this point. Did you send a critical writing sample or opt for an entirely visual arts-based portfolio (or both)?

Did anyone that's heard from MICA recieve an e-mail saying "your application is currently under review"?

Congrats! I'm still waiting on this one as well. For anyone waiting on Visual & Critical Studies (MA) at SAIC, the department coordinator told me that applicants will be notified of a decision in the next 7 days.
