  1. It's possible that the "accepted students day" is designed to woo competitive applicants that were applying to top-10 programs and that there are still decisions pending lots of different variables such as yield, funding, etc.

  3. Congratulations! They have pretty amazing funding packages don't they?
  4. My only solace is that I'm still taking classes this semester. One of them is an interdisciplinary course on the formation of the earth and the homework requires me to teach myself a bunch of calculus--I've taken precisely 0 units of calc. That keeps me busy.
  5. Getting a CalNet ID is a big part in a scholar's life!
  6. Looks like a couple more Cal acceptances went out today. Congrats!
  7. It appears that UCSB sent an acceptance out this morning. Historically they seem to send them out on the 3rd, then the 6th. Hoping a few more bits of good news come out this Friday...
  8. Ok, just discovered that page. I applied for history of science there. Wonder if I'll also hear today...
  9. Whoa! Where did you see this?
  10. I've seen that name before! We're reading "Crimes Against Nature" later on in a seminar that I'm taking this semester.
  11. Did either UCD or UCSB ask for interviews or just send acceptances based on the applications alone?
  12. At least this cycle is a bit quicker than undergrad applications. My UC Berkeley application a few years ago was due in November and I had to wait until the end of the following April to see if I got in. Still all the more nerve-wracking since there is so much else at play with graduate studies.
  13. Oh, now that I'm on my PC I can see Davis in your signature! The mobile version of this forum is kind of broken. Do you recall when Davis contacted you? If I end up getting into UCSB I'll definitely need to learn more about funding. That has so far been the most jarring thing about this all.
