  1. Hello, I have been accepted to few phd programs and just accepted my offer for one. I am currently writing the thesis for my Master's degree in another school and was expecting to graduate this summer and enter the phd program this fall. But I am afraid there is a high chance that I would not be able to finish my Master's in June (coursework is done, but administrative problem popped up for dissertation defense). If I fail to do so, what happens to my phd acceptance? Is there a possibility that the school cancel my offer? Or can I just enter the phd program without finishing my master's? I am so anxious right now and would very appreciate everyone's response. p.s. I'm an international student
  2. Thanks for your reply. I've applied for Communication Phd. I recently joined a new research project led by my advisor and took a Big data research program outside campus so I'm trying to put those in my CV.
  3. I have received an email from my top choice that I am waitlisted. They said I am welcome to send any information to update if I want to. I am trying to send my latest CV and the latest transcript since I raised my GPA last semester. I also received 3 acceptances from other PhD schools with full funding, and I am thinking about letting them know to show that I am an attractive candidate to other schools. But I am not really sure whether this would rather hurt me or not. I would like to hear some opinions about this from other folks. Thanks!
  4. Wow thanks for the info! It's really good to know that people who live there love their city. Still waiting for Northwestern though. Didn't you attend their interview weekend last week? How was it?
  5. I am also admitted to UMICH. I'm still waiting for couple of schools but I'm leaning toward accepting their offer. But I've never been to midwest in my life so no idea what the school/city atmospheres are like. If anybody is familiar with Michigan, would appreciate if you share your experience!
  6. still no news from UPENN. I thought they usually send out all decisions at once so I'm clueless on what's going on. Is there a possibility that they accidentally missed out my decision email?
  7. I think this is definitely good news since I emailed them 5 days ago and the committee said they already shared the recommendations with the Office of Graduate Admissions and that official notifications would be sent out soon. They probably had finished their decisions by then.
  8. Still not receiving any email from UPENN. I just want this nerve wrecking situation to end...
  9. Rejected from nyu. Expected but still hurts since I hoped to end up in nyc because lots of my family members and friends live there. Anyone got accepted?
  10. Oh I wish I had a chance to attend the interview weekend too. Although I'm not really sure if I'm that one candidate who cannot make it because of their dubious email requesting for a Skype "meeting"... maybe I'm overthinking.. I know, Upenn is so behind the schedule this year! But I have this feeling that they will release the decisions today that I'm so afraid to check my email.
  11. Does anybody know if Northwestern has released decisions? I applied to RPC and was invited for a skype interview (since I'm an international applicant) but haven't schedule the date yet. I thought the interview weekend was next week then I figured somebody already got acceptance. Any clue on what's going on? Also I emailed NYU MCC and they said there will be no additional interviews... I didn't receive an interview request so I guess that means I'm rejected.
  12. First of all, I am an international applicant and my local time is 14 hours ahead of EST. (so its Saturday 1:52am right now over here) I received an email from my POI saying that he was greatly interested in my application and asking if I would have time for a skype conversation. I replied few hours later, saying that I would love to have the opportunity and asked for a time that suits him best. He mailed back couple hours later, asking my current location to calculate the time difference. I replied back promptly, telling him where I'm at, and that I can adjust to his schedule if he would let me know his time of convenience. Then this morning (Friday 10:00am EST / Saturday 00:00am in my local time zone) he emailed me if today 7:00pm EST (Saturday 9:00am in my local time) would be available for me.... That is like 9 hours from the time he emailed and honestly I did not expect him to request an interview so early. I am totally unprepared and the thing is I was already out of town for the weekend before he gave me the first email and I said I was able to adjust my schedule to his since I was expecting the interview to be sometime next week... Now I had to send him an email saying that I am sorry for the inconvenience but cannot make it at that time but I would be available anytime from Monday.. I'm kind of freaked out if I blowed the interview and gave him a bad impression even before it started. Although he said not to worry if I cannot make it at 7:00pm. what do you guys think?
