diploma / masters in english literature

do transcripts play an important role when applying for diploma in english literature in canada . and also are there any universities or colleges in USA that offer diploma in english literature (mainly focused on american literature )? this is with regards to admission for fall 2017 . will acquiring a diploma first -help me with the masters that i will pursue in future ? i would really appreciate a response . thank you.
