  1. I was not. I didn't receive any communication last year other than the rejection email. I do remember exchanging messages with @refreshingmyemail around this time last year though. Looks like it was a 0 year for us both, but this year will be better!
  2. Hello for the second year!! I hope we both fare better this go round!
  3. I applied to a different program at ASU - outside of the college of Ed but still in my loose field - and haven't heard anything yet. I did speak to some grad students there and they LOVED it. Everyone I've talked to who's going to a new interdisciplinary PhD program there seems to be stoked.
  4. Thanks! That's exciting to know if that's correct. When I called last week (on 1/15 I think?) the guy who answered the phone said that all invites would be out within 1.5 - 2 weeks and that they hadn't yet determined the dates for the on campus visit.
  5. Learning Sciences. They're sending out interview notices in 1-2 weeks they said.
  6. @hopefulPhD2017 mentioned in another topic that they reviewed whether or not the program was a program that interviewed in the first place. If they do not interview - then yes, don't worry yet. I haven't heard too many stories, though, of a program that interviews digitally (aka, no on-campus interviews) bringing people on without an interview some time in late Jan/early Feb. But, it's not even February yet. There is still time for all programs. Some haven't even started reviewing yet.
  7. I'm in a different field but I also have a visible sleeve tattoo down to my wrist bone. My plan is to cover it for the interview - I have a habit of pushing sleeves up to mid-forearm, so I'll be careful to get a tightly-buttoned-at-the-wrist shirt and try to stay modest about it during my time on campus. But I'm not going to stress about it too much. If they can't handle a tattoo, they for sure can't handle my radical politics.
  8. I love this - I think it's such an important thing to remember. I meditate on a regular basis and am generally pretty chill, but having a hard time with this. Any resources/education you can point me to to get more chill.... the chill is getting pretttty difficult.
  9. I can't tell you how many times I flip over to my gmail window and F5 hoping for new messages... Too many. I am trying to limit it to doing it only after I complete a task, but it's not reducing the number by much. I'm trying to remind myself that it's already 2:30 or 3:30 on a Friday for some of the schools that I'm waiting on, so the odds of me hearing anything today are teeny tiny.
  10. i feel you. It's HARD HARD HARD HARD HARD. I was 0/4 last year with no interviews, and am doing far better this year but still very anxious. Hang in there... it will be over soon!
  11. So, this sounds like there is still hope for some of us (TLD, fingers crossed) And this sounds like all hope is lost save for maybe a waitlist spot. @hopefulPhD2017 I hope you feel better.... not to turn political either, but today isn't a great day and I feel like I'd be extra appreciative of some concrete news in any direction today.
  12. Yep, I'm mid 30s, and finished my masters ("on time") about 10 years ago. I had some anxiety starting a PhD at this point, but the average age of phd students in my field tends to be older so that's comforting.
  13. I'm comforted by the fact that I'm not the only one fretting over these. It *does* seem odd that the results are so low - which is part of what gives me hope about maybe getting positive news some time next week. I guess either way, I'll be happy by the end of next week because the uncertainty will have been resolved. I'm not sure if I'm getting the emails from Kim Brazil, but that's fine. Seeing "Vanderbilt" in my inbox would probably give me a heart attack.
  14. Well, I called this morning and talked to a not-super-helpful woman who said "I wasn't involved in sending the letters, and I'm not sure, but they all come from the Dean's office and I think they've all gone out already." re: invites for any Peabody Teaching & Learning PhD program.
