  1. Alright! Hope you get to enjoy the lovely summer there . Good luck on the start of your program!
  2. Haha! Well, austerity is a good quality! Not sure if I could be "abstemious" though Oh and good luck on your GRE!
  3. Wow! That is so cool ... I will be moving in Fall season, so I might miss out on that summer...but you get to enjoy all of that! I was seeing so many videos and all those taglines of "Ithaca is gorges!" I see your signature and that you are attending Cornell - did you look out for the on campus options? Is it difficult to come by? GAH! I want to ask so many questions!! And to add - Hi nice to meet you
  4. Ok. So. I will be moving to Ithaca. I come from a warm, pleasant climate and I have never seen snow. I am apprehensive~ Also - I need to figure out the housing situation. BUT. I am happy. Yay!
  5. I shall raise your whining with this... I live on the other side of the planet. For me decisions/emails come only at night. I keep waking up to check that darn inbox... Gah! I don't know if zinfandel helps you sleep better.
  6. Hi everyone, I took my GRE in November of last year (2015). Late as it was and even after, I found myself keeping certain GRE verbal words in my arsenal. Not for study purpose but just to ... you know flummox and confound a few people (specifically my manager at work). Did you guys do this? Not just for practice purposes. It was so much fun to say stuff like, "Oh did you see that show last night? I thought Miley Cyrus was so infelicitous!"
  7. Hi everyone, Just had a question... is it common for universities to refer applicants based on their profile to another program? In my case, I am applying for an MS in CS. So far during the application and waiting for decision process, two universities that I applied to referred me to another program. The first university responded within 2 and a half weeks (after submission of application) and said while they were not admitting me for their MS program, they thought I had much to offer and asked if they could forward my application without any fee to their MEng program. (to which I consented) Another university responded, (much later after 2 and a half months) and did not approve my application but asked if they could forward my application to another department that was collaborating with their CS one. This was also without any fee, however because I wasn't too happy with the program, I did not respond back. I would have thought this was usual fare in universities but after asking a few of my friends, none of them seemed to have such an experience. Also googling online about this has not got me any result either. So why am I asking this? I am curious if anyone else is in a similar position vis-à-vis this. Do universities do this based on potential of a candidate or just...potential money....
