  1. Alright, I heard from them yesterday evening -- was accepted. Good luck to your application!
  2. Based on the data from past years, it's normal for Stanford to not release results until the March 26-ish. It has made it clear that we will be notified by the end of March -- guess just need a bit more patience here. ps. There're already folks posting their results.
  3. This Tuesday afternoon.
  4. I received the decision via email, even though my portal still says submitted.
  5. My situation applying to Stanford CS master in 2017 is same as darksteam's. There's no need to mail official transcripts until they tell you to do so (i.e. you're given an offer and you accept it). Even if you've mailed them, they won't be matched to your application. From what I know, this transcript rule is different from department to department.
  6. I also received the acceptance email ~1 hour ago! What a long wait.
  7. Hi goldenbear13, Do you mind sharing which MEng program did you apply to and when did you receive the offer please?
  8. Thanks for sharing the info. I personally think this means that decisions (admits along with rejections) will come out this week.
  9. I am also waiting on the EECS M.Eng. result. Not sure if not hearing anything by now implies a rejection.
  10. Hi dagnabbit, thanks for your advice. Do you think mentioning it would risk reflecting something negatively about me, or simply because it's not worth wasting readers' time since it wouldn't help with my qualifications anyway? Stanford is not the only program - but I'm applying to a total of only 3 or 4 graduate programs this year, which are the ones I see a clear fit and I really want to go to).
  11. So after finishing high school in China, I immigrated to the U.S., and first matriculated at a "lesser-ranked" public university (~27th among all public schools), before I transferred to a top public university where I got my bachelor degree. And now I am applying to a CS master at Stanford (mainly a industry oriented program). I know that admission committee puts some weight on the prestige of undergraduate programs (source: how elite schools admit Ph.D., assuming some of the processes apply to masters also). What I'm wondering about is, in the "additional information" section on my application, should I explain why I went to a less prestigious school at first place? I chose to go there because of proximity and affordability (that was the only in-state university I got into back then, although I spent only a few months on applying to U.S. universities after I came here). I'm afraid not explaining it would leave committee an impression that I wasn't as academically strong as the other applicants who have good scores from elite schools. The other parts of my application are relatively strong, stellar GPAs, good GRE & LORs, industry experience (not at the big companies, but a unicorn startup in Silicon Valley), some research experience, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  12. The school I'm applying requires that "You may upload one file; it should not exceed two pages in length, single-spaced". But single-space is something I'd like to avoid using because of poor readability. But if I use double-space the document may not fit in two pages. Any advice?
  13. Hi, For most applications (CS masters) I'm looking at there is a section to list "Publications / Presentations". I'm wondering if papers/reports/slides published on e-platform, such as ResearchGate and Open Science Framework, should/could be listed in this section?
  14. Does anyone know if there is an info session for the MS programs at Stanford University? Where can I find out more information about this? I'm looking to apply for MS in CS. Thanks.
  15. So I want to start to fill out the grad school applications early so that I can keep track of which items I'm missing/need more work. However, I realize that many programs don't have their applications open for 2017 Fall admission yet. I mean their online application system is open and you're free to create an application and work out the forms, but under admission period it will only allow you to select something like 2015-2016, and no 2017. My question is, can I still create an application now in such systems? I didn't realize this is questionable until I read what Yale says on their website: "Do not create an account for an application type outside of the active period dates for that application. Doing so will cause significant problems and could preclude you from continuing the application of your choice." I've actually created several application accounts already for other programs but this Yale's message is a bit scary.
