  1. Hi nerds, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with doing industry internships during graduate school (biology/chemistry/engineering). I am currently exploring the idea of getting an industry job after my PhD, but don't have any industry experience. I would like to do an internship to figure out if this is in fact what I want to do with my life. I have read online that there are summer (10-12 week) internships available to graduate students from several large industry companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Genentech and GlaxoSmithKline. Does anyone have any experience with these types of internships? Specifically: Where did you work? What were the hours/pay? Was your advisor supportive? What year of your degree did you do your internship? How was working in an industry environment different from working in an academic lab? Does it sound like people who take these types of internships end up getting full time offers after they get their degrees? Did you find the experience worth it? Thanks y'all!
  2. I got an email about TSRI interviews; it says that I need to pick which campus to interview (can only get into that one obv); I was wondering if anybody knew about what portion of the CA interviewees get offers? It looks like most people that interview at FL get offers, so I wasn't sure if I should just do that. I'd rather end up in CA, but there are literally profs at both campuses I could work for. Thanks y'all!
  3. Prospective graduate student interested in Chemical Biology - more specifically protein modification, protein probes, and protein therapeutics. But just in general, what schools have the best chemical biology programs / professors? Some schools have entire chemical biology departments but for the ones that don't it is hard to tell which schools have strong programs. There aren't really rankings for this type of thing so it's hard to get an idea of where the good programs are. Thanks!
