The very first thing you should do is to revise some basic Math formulas and take the practice test by ETS. It is highly likely that you won't complete the entire test and quit after first few sections. But avoid doing that. Giving a practice test will give you a clear picture on where you stand. It will also give you a better idea on which sections you need to study more. GRE requires at least 2-3 months of sincere preparation . As you will be giving the GRE by mid august then you have 2 months to prepare for it even if you start now. Especially if you are not a native English speaker, you would require more time to get a reasonable score on the verbal section. NYU has acceptance rate of 35%.
