  1. Hi everyone, I know this is a little early to start this thread but I just wanted some advice on factors to consider when deciding on programs (which will also help me ask better questions on the rest of my interviews)! I guess my main question is what factors are the most important when deciding which school to go to! And in general, how important is ranking/prestige? For example, should you always attend the top program you get into, or does it not matter if you are deciding between two programs that are both known to be very good! Thanks so much in advance
  2. So I was recently just accepted to one of my top choice programs (Yay!) and I am planning on cancelling two of my other interviews just because I applied to too many schools and it just gets to tiring! I was just wondering what the most polite way to cancel interviews is (none of them have bought any travel tickets for me yet). Should I just email the program coordinator saying I got into my top choice school and I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to interview but I really don't want to waste anyones time?
  3. Don't be worried about this! I was worried that one of my top choices didn't pair me with faculty I wanted to work with but then I interviewed and got accepted regardless!
  4. Same!!! Beyond ecstatic! Can't wait for the second visit!
  5. Has anyone heard from GSK post interview? I saw on the results thread that two people posted they were rejected on Jan 16th but I wasn't sure if this was a mistake and they meant to put they were rejected pre-interview?
  6. I'm a little nervous about this because at my last interview I spoke to three faculty members and they were all out of my field of interest. I just feel like I would have had a better chance at getting in if they had been in my field and I wanted to rotate in their lab! Any ideas on this?
  7. If you're going on an interview for one of your first choice schools, does anyone recommend making it clear in the interview that its your top choice? I just had my first interview weekend at one of my favorites (that has below a 50% post interview acceptance rate) and I was worried that I didn't sell myself enough during the interview that the school was my favorite! If they ask me why I like the program, should I say it is my top choice because....
  8. Does anyone know if all the stanford cancer bio invites have been sent out? I only saw one on the results tab?
  9. Has anyone heard from Stanford cancer biology?
  10. Yay MIT interviews! Does anyone know the post interview acceptance rate for MIT biology!?
  11. I have to decline an interview that already booked a flight for me given that Weill cornell just sent me an invite today and I had already had interviews booked for both weekends they offered: is this really bad or do you think programs encounter this often?
  12. Does anyone know if UCSD BMS is done sending invites?
  13. Does anyone know if theres an alternate Cornell Weill biochemistry interview date other than Jan18-20?
  14. Is it a better policy to wait a couple days before accepting an interview invite (to make sure it doesn't coincide with schools you like better that you haven't heard back from yet, but should be hearing back from soon), or to commit to the interview and than ask to cancel/reschedule later?
