  1. Any insight on Aviara Apartments or Addison Lane?
  2. A lot of students transfer credits in from multiple universities during undergrad, for a lit of different reasons. As long as you were at the final school long enough to work in a lab and establish a good relationship with three profs who can write you LORs it shouldn't be an issue; assuming you have not been put on academic probation or been asked to leave a university.
  3. I was on the UF grad housing website and noticed they had one bedrooms for $484- no roommates. I've also seen a lot of decent prices per bed (under $400) using apartments.com and hotpad. Good Luck!
  4. I haven'y heard anything either, and have already accepted an offer elsewhere. Best of luck!
  5. From my research it looks like housing in Gainesville is very low, but 11k is a low stipend for anywhere in the US. I have seen two bedroom apartments for about $900, so if you were had a roommate you may be able to get by on a vey very tight budget. I would also look on craigslist as you might be able to share a room with someone for even cheaper. I would contact the current grad students are see what they have been doing; perhaps some of them are working jobs and/or taking out small loans.
  6. I tried every study book for the GRE and nothing helped raise my quant score. Eventually I forked out the money for Magoosh and it was extremely helpful and really helped me improve my quant score (my qual was already in the 90th). I studied two hours a day for three months.
  7. Can you further describe the mistakes that you made on your application? It's difficult to gauge whether correcting these would really increase your chances next year.
  8. Does anyone know of good apartment complexes for a one bedroom?
  9. I have heard from NIU, and they should be sending out acceptance letters within the next week or so.
  10. If you're sure you will not be going I wouldn't waste your or their time and money going.
  11. Just from what you've listed here it seems that you may have more opportunities to grow academically and personally at school A. It seems that the main issue is the move and being away from your support system, so you would just have to be very intential about building a new one.
  12. Thanks for this information! I'm concerned they are inviting so many people for so few spots though.
  13. Has anyone from social heard from UC Santa Cruz yet?
  14. I think for the administration to dictate what kinds of social science studies become funded would be too specific and difficult. There may be an overall reduction in funding, but I don't see the current administration seeking to stop discrimination research. If your research concerns climate change or Islam then you may want to be concerned. The administration has not made any specific statement about defunding actual universities -to my knowledge.
