  1. Hi All, Wrapping up with my application and still looking for a way to shave off a few lines from my research plan. My advisor suggested I use 13 pt. line spacing, which she uses in her nsf proposals. I looked at the solicitation and it outlines document format as such: standard 8.5" x 11" page size 12-point, Times New Roman font or Computer Modern (LaTeX) font 10-point font may be used for references, footnotes, figure captions and text within figures 1" margins on all sides Single-spaced (approximately 5 lines per inch) or greater line spacing. Applicants should not use line spacing options such as “exactly 12 point,” that are less than single spaced. Would 13 pt exact line spacing fall into the "single-spaced or greater line spacing" ? I used this spacing last year and nothing was ever said about it, so I assume it is okay. But, I'm hoping for your thoughts on the matter. Cheers.
  2. They are up--at least for me. Didnt get it unfortunately. G/VG, VG/VG, VG/VG. Was expecting better grades honestly. Good luck to everyone else.
  3. What have you all been wearing to your grad school visits/interviews? When student's visited my school--it was only females, so I couldn't gauge what a male should wear. But, they were dressed somewhat casually I'd say. Thoughts?
  4. Thanks a bunch for reposting this--I've discussed a few of these points, but some I wouldn't have thought of. I'll be sure to write these down!
  5. Thanks for this link. Unfortunately, I can't access the last page. It was really just a few good pointers to ask a PI in my first in-person interview. Also, it's a bummer the thread was lost. Some good discussion on there.
  6. I actually posted about what questions I should ask a POI when going on an interview. I didn't have a chance to read the response!
  7. Can't find the admissions profiles/results topic anymore? Anyone know what happened to it? A lot of valuable information in there... Also didn't get to read a reply that answered a question I had!
  8. Current Inst.: Rutgers Research: Currently paleoceanography (inorganic and organic geochemistry); did an REU at Tier-1 program; working on independent project at the moment. Want to dive into nexus between glacial geology and high-latitude oceanography or low-latitude interior ocean processes. Applying to: UCSD, CalTech, Rutgers, Columbia, OSU, UCSC. Applied for: NSF GRFP as undergraduate Curious where other paleo-people are applying to and what research everyone is interested in!
  9. A branch off of the Applicant Profile group, but for discussions on paleoclimate/paleoceanography hopefuls! Type below your undergraduate/masters institution, what type of research you've done and want to do, where you're applying (specific programs and/or faculty, if you want to say), and if you've applied for any fellowships. Feel free to ask questions, too.
  10. Good luck everyone! Anyone else apply to the paleoclimate/geosciences GRFP?
