  1. Not exorbitant at all. This money will allow you to concentrate on your studies and not starve to death. It could be that your advisor believes they won't get the full amount so asks for more than is needed.
  2. What field are you studying? I wonder if it is also a social science like my friend and I are studying.
  3. Thanks. It's so interesting to see the variety of publication goals across fields and subfields.
  4. Hi, I was speaking with a friend in who is studying clinical psychology who said that the students in her PhD program aim to publish between 5-10 articles. Is there a recommended target number of articles for PhD students in your field? If so, how many and how did you plan your studies to meet that target?

Hello all! Doing recon on apartments near Peabody College at Vanderbilt. What resources/websites have you used to find decent apartments? Which resources/websites would you avoid? For those who've used the bus system for your commute, which lines did you use and from what neighborhood, how long was your trip, and how much did the buses deviate from their posted schedules? Thanks so much for your help.
  6. Hi guys, I was accepted to the Community Research and Action program. Waiting for the formal letter with funding info. Super psyched. They were an amazing program to interview with and I can't believe they think I'm cool enough to hang.
  7. Joining Toastmasters, a public speaking club, helped me immensely. I just tried to do as many speeches as possible and exposing myself to public speaking has made it much easier. Also, we practice prepared and impromptu speeches so that covers both types of situations that made me really nervous. I no longer blush as much or get as shaky and breathless as before. And toastmasters is really affordable. It's only 7.50 per month and you can visit as many clubs as you want for free to find the right match.
  8. John Lithgow saw me in the nude when I modeled for a drawing workshop. He shook my hand after the session was over. Very nice guy.
  9. Sorry to hear that. What went on that was especially difficult?
  10. I was invited to the CRA interview weekend Feb 10-12 via email on Jan 9th. Grateful, excited, and nervous.
