  1. I wish they would just send out the rejection already. It is an excruciating wait and I have no admits to focus on...
  2. Vc prestou seu GRE em BH?

  3. @Dibenzofulvene, I know of a lot of people who changed advisors more than once. My own father switched advisors twice during his M.Sc. in Materials Science at Penn State. That didn't stop him from completing it with the maximum grade from all 5 members of the committee, one of which had been his previous advisor, with whom he had engaged in verbal altercation. They all said he should have gone on to defend a Ph.D. with his results. So these internal issues you're struggling with have a way of being resolved. As for some particular school being so short-sighted as to judge you on first impression and put all the blame on you for changing advisors ("you're not committed" and the whole yada-yada), screw 'em. You probably don't want to be there anyway.
  4. Here I am obsessing over checking my e-mails for the last two weeks. Really discouraged at this point though. I think Scripps mostly finishes their interview invites by early January. No joy for me I think...
  5. @Dibenzofulvene, congratulations!! Must have been a Merry Christmas indeed!
  6. Me too! Scripps is one of my top choices for the same reasons. I think it would offer one of the best trainings I could possibly wish for. I am totally total synthesis, interested in research by Baran, Boger and Roush (even though he's in FL and I would prefer to go to CA). Engle does some pretty interesting stuff though. It is actually hard to choose from among all of the options. I have a friend who works in C-H activation and would really like to work at Yu's lab after he finishes his PhD... Hope it works out for us!
  7. I hope we all get accepted! I'm 31, waiting for the next year is not an option for me...
  8. Let's bring this thread back to life… Anyone else applying to Scripps for Fall 2017?
  9. Found this on other threads, might be useful to standardize our answers. Undergrad Institution: (School or type of school, such as big state, lib arts, ivy, technical, foreign (what country?)... 10. Hello. I am applying to Ph.D. program in Chemistry - Organic Synthesis. General GRE - 162 Verbal, 159 Quantitative, 4.0 Analytical Writing Chemistry GRE - 720. I think this is a terrible score. I should not even report it, but I'm an international applicant, so it would be hard to be considered without taking it. TOEFL iBT - 110 Undergrad GPA - 2.7 converting it to the US system. However, I graduated top of my class on a top-rated institution here. Not sure if my application will go through though, as there's probably a numeric cut-off for crappy GPAs like mine. It's just that my university's grading system is very different from that in the US. Graduate (M.Sc.) GPA - 4.0 Research Experience - 1 yr undergrad research in Molecular Biology, second author and presenter of 1 poster on a national conference. 2.5 years graduate research as M.Sc., 1 publication unrelated to my thesis. LOR - One from a professor I was TA for, one from my undergrad advisor, one from my M.Sc. advisor (he showed me the letter after he sent it and I was pretty bummed out about it. Only two paragraphs written in terrible English…)
  11. Hello. I am applying to Ph.D. program in Chemistry as well. I'm interested in Organic Synthesis and I know admissions are highly competitive especially in the schools I'm interested. I should not even report it, but I'm an international applicant, so it would be hard to be considered without taking it. TOEFL iBT - 110 Undergrad GPA - 2.7 converting it to the US system. It would be nice to have advice from people who actually entered a program.
