  1. There are a few synchronous programs available. I've found my professors to be very responsive during my synchronous online classes.
  2. From what I've heard, it really doesn't matter as long as the program is ALA accredited. I'm doing an online program, and 3 of my coworkers are completing an online program. Do you have any library experience? It may be slightly easier to get library experience if you do an on campus program, but it's not impossible to arrange experience (finding a job or an internship) on your own.
  3. I had the same issue. I haven’t been able to register yet. I emailed my advisor and I guess they’re working on it. I called the registrar’s office and they said it’s because the department hasn’t officially updated the online application so we don’t have access to the right page. I’m not sure when we’re going to be able to register, but hopefully soon.
  4. As far as I know we will receive registration info in a letter from Dr. Elmborg, the program director. I'm not sure when we're supposed to receive the letter. I was told it would be "soon" but I haven't received anything yet. Yay! I would love that! I am waiting to book my flight until I get my letter so I can see the exact schedule. I am tentatively planning on arriving Wednesday night or Thursday morning and I'm planning on leaving on Sunday most likely.
  5. Check out this link. It has information about the webinars.
  6. No problem, I wasn't sure if the letter was coming in the mail or as an email. I did email Dr. Bourne to accept my spot and she emailed me back. Hopefully she will get back to you soon. She's been fairly responsive to my emails so I'm assuming she'll confirm that she received your answer. I've heard that the orientation will be August 15-August 18th. I believe the event on the evening of August 15th is optional. That's all I know so far!
  7. @Keyjennic - Hey, quick question! I'm still waiting on my official letter. The last thing I received was an email welcoming me to the program. Did your letter mention anything about a deposit? The email I received mentioned that I need to commit to the program by May 7. I was just wondering how much money if any I need to set aside in the next week or so!
  8. Congrats! I have a coworker who is starting UB's program in the fall.
  9. Congrats! I just received my notice of acceptance! The email said that I will receive a formal acceptance letter soon.
  10. I contacted the program today. We will not receive our letters today, but it sounds like emails and official acceptance letters will be sent out this week.
  11. I wonder if they're mailing decisions. I would have assumed that the online system would have sent out the decision letter yesterday if it were digital. Hopefully we get something on Monday!
  12. @iCats @Keyjennic - It looks like we're getting closer. My online portal shows that my application was reviewed by the department. No decision yet!
  13. My understanding is that it helps if you're willing to move for a job. The librarians I work with have all encouraged me to conduct a wide search once I have my MLIS. If you're not tied to one geographic area then you will certainly have more options. I know that personally it took me several attempts to land a para position in an academic library, but I am also tied to my current city for the next year or two.
  14. No, it’s supposed to be a Fall 2018 start. People in the program are supposed to attend an orientation on campus in mid-August. You’re probably thinking of the hybrid program.
