  1. Have you heard about funding yet? How was the visit? Just got back to the states and was surprised to not have heard anything
  2. @ThinkVee @guanyinmiao Iwill not be attending either. My husband and I will be out of the country. I am bummed about missing it. What professors are you all wanting to work with? We should have a meet and greet with us three beforehand if we all decide to go there. Also looking for a job for relocation and all that is a stressor.
  3. Are you doing the combined or the PhD track? I am doing the PhD track and I did not receive a package yet. Dr. Jackson said they are still deciding that information so it should be coming within the next few weeks. I would imagine if you're going to the meet and greet you would receive it there. I will be out of the country so won't be attending. i am already looking around for places to live though and it is not cheap, I haven't been in LA for a few years now so I forgot about that aspect.
  4. Hmmmmm maybe you got an acceptance? I looked at mine after reading this and found out I was wait listed. I'm sure no one will reject their offer of admission though.
  5. Which program? I just got a call from UCLA for acceptance but I can't remember who called me. I'm completely shocked though and very excited. I still haven't heard acceptance or denial from Chicago though.
  6. Thank you for the information! I'm thinking if I don't get in this year I will take extra classes on research methods to be more prepared since I've been out of school for a few years. Anyone else accepted this year have advice on how to build my resume this next year? I do not want to take the gre again, although my scores were not where I wanted them, as it was too expensive and time consuming. What are people's thoughts on that?
  7. Congrats on the interview! I received feedback from mine and was told to really emphasize why I believed the work I wanted to do connected with the school and the specific professors I wanted to work with. In 20 minutes you have so little time to do that but they said to try and fit it in more. Hopefully this helps with your interview!
  8. Congrats on your acceptance! Are you the one that posted your acceptance to UCLA? I ask because I'm wondering if everyone received their acceptance yesterday or not. Anyway any tips or suggestions from your application for those of us that might have to apply again next year? Thanks!
  9. I saw someone heard back from UCLA yesterday. I'm feeling pretty defeated this application season y'all.
  10. Hmmmm you might be able to have a follow up conversation about something you talked about? Maybe ask a question or say you had an idea about something. That one is a little harder. You can always send a follow up email saying thanks for speaking with me. But that one might be a bit late. I'm not sure on this one
  11. I saw a couple people heard from SSA. I am assuming I will once again be getting the generic rejection email come Monday. Anyone else heard from them?
  12. I spoke with Dr. Franke. We were supposed to connect before I applied and never did. I sent him an email asking if we could set up a time next week to talk more about the work he is Doing and communities he works in. And he responded about five minutes later saying of course when would work for me. So we set up a time and exchanged numbers. My mentor said that with the professors you should always follow up with them so I figured reaching it wouldn't be too terrible. If it's your first time talking to them introduce yourself and the work you are interested in and how it aligns with theirs and a copy of your CV. Who are you hoping to work with?
  13. I'm not sure if they normally do interviews at Chicago. It was with someone I had spoken to already and it wasn't very formal at all compared to the Berkeley interview. She just had a few questions for me. Ive been speaking with one of my old mentors who I believe plays a role in admissions for the PhD program at BU and she encouraged me to email the professor I had previously been in contact with at UCLA to set up an interview time. I did that yesterday and so we have a conversation set up for next week. So I would encourage you to email the people you are waiting to hear back from again just to talk more about research interests and all that. Hopefully something comes out of it.
  14. Congrats on WashU! I had an interview with Chicago today and they said by the end of the week they should be notifying people. Still nothing from UCLA
  15. Hi all. Just got my official rejection from Berkeley. Super bummed about it as I thought it was a really good fit after having the interview. Still waiting to hear back from Chicago and WUSTL... I have hear absolutely nothing from them so am a bit nervous about it.
