  1. For research, sure. Doesn't really matter for jobs in government sector. As long as you get an mph, it's fair game. From my experience (working in both provincial government and municipal public health units) making connections and learning how to present yourself matters more.
  2. I declined my mcmaster offer today. So a spot should be opening up soon. Goodluck
  3. London school of hygiene and tropical medicine has a high acceptance rate. And you would be paying alot to be a international student. In Canada, it doesn't matter about what school you go to, it's how you present yourself, your experience/volunteer hours, and the connections you make. No employer in public health will ask for your grades but as long as you have a mph you will meet the requirements.
  4. Hey @neonlily Congrats on your offer as well. I will most likely choose Waterloo as I also am working full time in public health. Online makes it alot easier to maintain both a job and schooling at the same time. It seems like they offer low cost rooms for that two week onsite course which is nice.
  5. Hi guys, I just got accepted for McMaster university. Recieved a personal email from the head of the program. Also got in to Waterloo last week. Good luck to everyone!
  6. Hello, Best of luck to everyone out there applying for their mph. I'm planning to apply for the mph programs at the University of Waterloo, Brock university and maybe Lakehead. Been out of school for 4 years since my Undergrad. From reading the other mph forums throughout the previous years, it seems like the gpa to get in is higher and higher after each year. Had a low 80s cumulative average during my Undergrad. Been working as a public health professional at a Ontario public health unit for last 4 years dealing with outbreak management and control. Looking for a online mph program. I was just wondering how important are the academic references? I got a professor to agree to write me a reference letter because I did well in his class but I'm afraid it might be very generic. Anywhoo, best of luck with your applications.
