  1. @tallenarts I saw an acceptance on Draft last week so I suppose notifications already went out. A good friend of mine went to Old Dominion. He liked it, though he wasn't crazy about the location or division between funded/unnfunded students (he was fully funded). To people in despair over all this rejection, don't give up. Two of my most talented friends (the one who went to OD included) got rejected everywhere their first time around but got fully funded offers their second year applying. So glad this season is coming to an end. I'm emotionally drained. My tally: 2a/1w/1r... and it looks like I'm headed to UNLV with full funding and fellowship!
  2. I went to George Mason for my undergrad. The faculty is pretty great and I made many good friendships and connections with people who went to GMU for their MFA (even though I was an undergrad at the time). Lot's of book and lit stuff to do because it's close to DC, plus GMU and Fairfax host a pretty big book festival in the fall. GMU also homes the headquaters for the AWP- fun fact. The area, as many have already stated, kinda sucks. It's right in the middle of the suburbs. I loved GMU for the people, but hated the location.
  3. Congrats!! I've heard good things about the program. I saw a notice on Draft saying someone else got accepted to VCU for fiction as well and it's kinda thrown me into panic.... no email. :/ should I consider myself rejected?
  4. Rejected from fiction at UMN. Goodbye, Charles Baxter. I suppose I will find someone else to mentor me.
  5. Does anyone know when UVA starts notifying? The other two schools I applied to don't notify till mid March (VCU, UNLV) so I got a long wait to go...
  6. Right. I don't have the money to spend on a gazillion college applications so I only applied to schools I really want to go to who are an overall good fit for me (program, funding, staff, location). The people writing my recommendations are very busy people-- one of them is currently on book tour. I don't know how I would bring myself to ask them to submit 20 different letters in different formats to different schools when I'm not organized enough to remember where I left my keys. Good luck on Minnesota! I applied for fiction. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  7. Woah... Minnesota is already notifying?? I applied for fiction there as well as to UVA, VCU, and UNLV. I'm starting to feel that wasn't nearly enough schools, but my nerves can only take so much. A friend of mine who applied to Mason recently got her acceptance letter.
