  1. Hey all, I'm basically looking for input and advice on my current situation: I was accepted to The Wright Institute's PsyD program and I'm really excited about it. I know the most about their program as compared to other schools I applied to and love their practicum opportunities and the vibe of the school. I also like that I'd be getting a doctoral degree. However, I've been living in the bay area for a while and a big part of me really wants to get the heck out of here. I've generally been really unhappy in this location and feel ready for change. I was rejected from Yeshiva University's PsyD program in New York, but just got accepted to their M.A program in Mental Health Counseling and I have to say it's tempting for a few reasons - 1) It's a university, not professional institute, 2) the program is a bit shorter and I believe a bit more affordable, and 3) the location!!! All the same, I wouldn't want to regret not going for the PsyD for kind of shallow reasons. What do you all think? Any insight especially on what an M.A in New York can do for you vs. a PsyD from anywhere...not as familiar with the job market in NYC. Thanks!
  2. Applied to SF State, have an interview there next weekend. I also had applied to Yeshiva U's PsyD and was rejected but accepted to their M.A program.
  3. School: Yeshiva University - Ferkauf Graduate School of PsychologyArea/Degree: Clinical Psychology, PsyDRationalization: They gave me no specific reason other than high volume of applicants, however I'm certain it had to do with my very low GRE scores (I took it once a couple of years ago without studying and didn't bother to take it again coz i kinda think it's b.s) and also, it was my first app due and my SOP was pretty rough and rushed.Comment: They are going to forward my application to the M.A in Counseling Psych program. I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get accepted to that either because of the GRE issue but who knows. I really, really want a doctoral degree though =/Coping tactics: Have been preparing myself for this news for a while so coping isn't too rough. Yeshiva was my top choice, but a lot of things kept going wrong with my application, like first one of my rec letter writers disappeared, then their application website never said my app was complete, then I came on here and saw other people were getting interviews and even accepted so I started figuring it wouldn't happen. Still waiting on two other schools so that helps too.
  4. OMG! That's great news, thank you! I have a feeling I'm not gonna get in tbh because my GRE scores are dismal and it seems like they actually care about it, but we'll see. Thanks for responding!
  5. I posted a separate thread on this but wanted to check in here since more people read this! help! anyone who applied to Yeshiva University! Is anyone else having an issue where the PSYCAS application still has your application marked as incomplete? For me, everything is complete but it says they are still waiting on my official undergrad transcript. However, I sent my transcript a while ago and the admissions office, when I called, even confirmed that they had it but said it wouldn't update on the psycas application website right away. It's been over a month now though, and since other people have received interview requests I'm worried something was processed incorrectly. So I'm wondering if this is normal and also happening to those of you who received an interview or admission? ty!

  7. Wondering if anyone else here applied to PsyD programs? If so, let's post where we applied and any updates! School: The Wright Institute Program: PsyD Status: Received invitation for interview last week. I have my interview on Saturday. School: Yeshiva University Program: PsyD Status: Submitted my application but haven't heard anything. Nervous since they said they would extend interview invites in January. School: Trinity College Dublin Program: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Status: Still figuring out if I am going to apply. Nervous about the work visa issue so not sure if it's worth applying. Any thoughts?
