  1. Congratulations on getting into both programs! I highly recommend contacting current graduate students to get a rundown of each program. A group of grad students at CSUF started a Facebook page, Facebook.com/Cds.BridgingTheGap that allows you to connect with grad students in their program and a handful of other programs. Might be helpful with getting in contact with students. Hope this helps with your decision making!
  2. Number 5 on the waitlist is a great place to be. Every student can only accept 1 school so give it a little time. I’ve known quite a few people who were accepted off a waitlist last year for CA schools and ended up at their school of choice. Just be patient and think positive!
  3. I think it’s safe to say the Cal States are equally competitive given the number of applicants and limited number of spots offered. CSUF is an amazing program. I agree it does help to have done your post bac or undergrad there, but the same can be said for CSULB and CSULA.
  4. I think it definitely matters and opens up a lot of networking opportunities with faculty, students, and professionals in the community. It shows your investment into the field and you can speak to specific experiences in your letter. Also, I think if you plan to apply to your current school, it'll be one other involvement that will make you stand out from other applicants applying to the program. I was fortunate enough to serve on my school's NSSLHA board and loved it. If you're doing it for the right reasons, then it will only benefit your app
  5. I received the email about the $500 deposit and assumed it is because the university is private. Maybe try contacting them to find out if you can have until the 15th to pay? I have no idea if that's even an option, but I don't see why they are giving the 4th as opposed to the 15th like most other programs. That sounds very frustrating I hope it works out.
  6. I have not received the email yet, but possibly this coming week. It's definitely not a dream, but it must feel like it!
  7. Congratulations! I also received a phone call on Tuesday from Dr. Vickers. For being pretty new, it seems like a great program! I do have a few other schools to choose from so I'm not sure where I'm accepting just yet.
  8. So did I! I'm so surprised they got back to us so quickly. Congratulations :)!!!
  9. My interview is from 1-5pm. Really excited, but nervous. I've also heard it isn't a typical personal interview, but instead knowledge based.
  10. I'm also anxiously waiting to hear from CSU Long Beach too. Their original email confirming my application mentioned interviews end of Feb. to early March, but I don't know of anyone hearing back yet.
