  1. Nope. I would maybe try calling the admissions office to find out more info. If they can't give you a direct answer, call the department directly (the admissions will probably have that number).
  2. I got an informal interview at UIC (U of I at Chicago). But I'm trying to not get overly excited as they invited everyone that applied to come to the interview. It's 2-3 days long filled with activities and a day out to check out Chicago.
  3. Sorry to hear about the rejection! But you have other great schools picked out!
  4. Not so lucky. I think it's more stressful. I got the interview but--I heard from the grapevine that they haven't even narrowed the search at all. Instead, they are inviting everyone that applied to come hang out for the interview. :-/
  5. Update on UIC--I just got an email tonight for an informal interview in March! Update on ISU--I got an email today saying that the committee will be meeting up on Monday to pick their candidates and I should get my decision next week. Good luck! and just be patient, you will hear from the schools that you applied to. Give it a little time, each department at a school moves at their own pace. No matter what you will hear something back from them. Please keep us updated!
  6. well I think you have to ultimately consider the department which you applied to. Each department does things at their own pace. You apply, admission sends your packet to the department. Each department has their own way of going through the applications. After they make their selection, they will notify admissions. But will first contact you to let you know. Don't lose hope. At both my places, other departments have gotten admission letters except the departments I applied for.
  7. I haven't gotten anything yet either. :-( fingers crossed for both of us!!!! There's still plenty of time. The waiting part sucks.
  8. I applied at UIC (university of Illinois at Chicago) and Illinois State. I haven't heard anything from either school. However, I did read on UIC website, that most decisions happen around March. I'm sure it's different for ever school so hang in there--it's not over until it's over.
  9. I also applied to a hydrogeology program. It's the same school I'm getting my undergrad degree, though. So I'm pretty content with the capability of the professors to thoroughly teach me everything I need to be successful. Min my opinion, ranking doesn't matter. What matters is the relationship you have with your advisors (that's the most important thing to me at least), and if your doing research in the things you love and enjoy! Nothing else should matter. You can go to a top school doing research you don't care about along with crappy advisors. So the decision has many factors and it's really all about what you're comfortable with and if you're doing what you love.
  10. Well, darn! I should probably stop obsessing over it then. I think most schools in the geology field (assuming) won't come to a decision until around march. Congratulations on your two admits thus far!
  11. I applied to two schools in January. One of the schools is the same place as in getting my undergraduate degree. It's nerve racking because I don't know who is on the selection committee but seeing all the professors in the department everyday is pretty overwhelming to say the least because I know they know. Lol. Anyway, both my applications were sent in online. I'm just curious if the status section of the application will display if I'm admitted or not way before I even get a letter/phone call? I have been stalking my online applications and I'm just curious if they'll update their decision on there before they send out letters. Any ideas?
