Anyone else hear from UofT yet (MA)? I got an email but I'm too scared to look!

Isn't it possible that you're idealizing/romanticizing your first-choice? To put it in more trite (but often true) terms: the grass is always greener on the other side

Accepted into Memphis but waitlisted for funding. Won't hear back until 2nd-3rd week of April.

I feel like info about funding was put ambiguously on department webpage. Had I known it was so limited I might not have applied, but still feels nice to have been accepted.

To whoever just got accepted to the Oregon M.A. program (I'm assuming you applied to the Ph.D. program?) do you mind if I ask whether you received any funding? Thanks

Accepted to Oregon's MA program. Sadly no funding guaranteed for MA students (which was put more ambiguously online). Will have to see if I can secure a TAship.

Both Fordham and Memphis have Derrida scholars. Not sure about Deleuze but those are at least two U.S. programs open to French philosophy. Have you considered Canadian schools? McGill has Prof. Alia Al-Saji who specializes in French philosophy, and Concordia University is also very open to French philosophy (moreso Derrida & French feminism though there's one adjunct prof. specializing in French Philosophy & Deleuze). Kingston University in London would be an obvious choice but funding is also very limited. Also be warned that even though Toronto has maybe ~3 (?) scholars with AOS in French philosophy the courses for the 1 year MA program vary each year and this past year no continental courses have been offered. Also there's no thesis option so you wouldn't be able to choose a continental based supervisor.

I'm applying to the MA program. From what I've heard, it's pretty well-received in continental circles (after all Irigaray went there). They're especially strong in phenomenology and modern continental philosophy. Knowledgeable faculty, but not the most diverse department, if that concerns you.

Anyone know when UofT will start releasing offers? Also: they accepted a handful of their own undergraduates last season. Isn't this a bit unusual for grad programs?
