  1. I'm pretty sure that a thesis option at U of T only applies once you get into the program. There's a good amount of people in my cohort (around 140) and the majority of people are going the coursework route, since U of T is a pretty clinical program
  2. I'm currently in year 1 of the two-year MSW program at U of T. ask me anything!
  3. I think that synthesizing all of my academic and non-academic experiences into one well-articulated written statement is the reason I was accepted into the two-year program at U of T. I don't have any field-related experience, nor exceptional grades. However, I put my heart and soul into that paper. I traveled downtown and sat in the social work building while writing it. I pored over the admissions booklet and did research on every single professor at the FIFSW. I got 7 separate people to look over it before handing it in, including a registered social worker. If folks would like, I'd be more than happy to share the specifics of my personal statement--just pm me!
  4. Wooohoo received my letter of admission in the mail today for U of T!!
  5. Whaaaaat does that mean there's the possibility of an "invited" status that doesn't mean acceptance? :s
  6. For all whose statuses on ACORN/ROSI have changed, I just called the registrar's office to ask about the "invited" status and it does indeed mean good news they're sending out the physical letters this week. Congratulations!!
  7. @wishingonuoft yeah that makes sense. So it doesn't matter at all whether you get good grades or not, it's all just up to the algorithm to randomly decide who gets their top pick for practicum? Nevertheless though, I'm just extremely thankful that they're taking a chance on me by accepting me into the program!!
  8. @wishingonuoft thank you SO much! that's exactly what I was looking for. I love writing essays and researching and not that big of a fan of tests, so that's really great to hear My status on ACORN shows "invited" so I have my hopes up but like others, I won't start celebrating until I have the physical acceptance package in my hands haha! Another question: I know Mental Health & Health and Children & their Families are the two most popular streams. I was hoping to do my placement at SickKids, do you know how competitive it is to get in there?
  9. @UofT2015 Could you let us know more about what your experience was like? What was your undergrad program and how did you find the transition when going into social work? thanks
  10. There's been a new one made already and has quite a number of posts, here's a link
  11. Could you let us know more about what your experience was like? What was your undergrad program and how did you find the transition from it and going into social work? Thank you!
