  1. Thank you a lot man, I will be working on my application.
  2. Hello Folks I have no CS background, and I am currently taking some CS undergraduate courses. Hopefully I can get into a MS in CS program next year. However, I just discovered a program that seems to be prepared for graduates with no CS background. I wonder if anyone here is experienced with NEU's Align or similar programs (not a lot, but some) How is this program? Is the training you have received sufficient for you to land a tech job? Any random thought is also fine. https://www.northeastern.edu/align/academic_program/master-of-science-in-computer-science/
  3. really appreciate your suggestions. very likely, I will follow this path -----"I would take a few semesters to knock out the core coursework and if able to, get on a faculty member's current research project "
  4. Hi, Folks As a social science graduate (Poli Sci), I haven't taken any CS classes or Calculus courses, although I had a big data class where I was taught some basic R and Python. I want to know if there are MS programs accepts students who do not have any CS background (well, I haven't taken any Calculus courses yet...but planning to take some Math and CS class this summer). Do I need to get letters from CS professors? (well, I know this sounds dumb...But really, I don't know the answer) Do I need CS research experience to get into a MS program? My goal is to work as Software Engineer or Information Security Analyst GPA:3.78. GRE: V153 M163 W 4.0 some unrelated work and undergraduate experience Many thanks to folks who can answer these questions
  5. Is CAPP a STEM program? Yes, MSCAPP is federally recognized as a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) degree, as a STEM program listed on the US Department of Homeland Security's STEM designated degree program list. This designation qualifies graduating MSCAPP students for the optional practical training (OPT) STEM extension. You can find out more about the OPT program under the University of Chicago STEM OPT Extension guidelines.
  6. Hi, all ! I am waiting to hear back from the only phd program where I have been wait-listed. As a poli sci major, I have been thinking about Plan B and Plan C. I will appreciate if you guys can give some thoughts. Plan B: I received an admission from NYU' MA in poli sci program. I would like to know if this is a cash cow program where core faculties are seldom involved, or it is actually a good program, although it is costly to go to NYU. Plan C: I intend to apply Chicago Harris's Master of Science in Computational Analysis and Public Policy next year. Because it is a STEM program and I am quite interested in coding. Are there any other STEM graduate degrees out there, related to data science for social science majors? Plan D: So I am considering to apply some MPP programs. I notice that many MPP programs are too general. JHK and Harris have much more specialized programs. Please let me know what programs appear in your mind.
