hey there, Mechis here. Yes, I have been admitted into the Spanish PhD program. I got the Chancellor's Fellowship that covers in-state tuition and I will teach years 2, 3 and 4, and it seems a lot because it is four 3 credits courses or three 4 credits courses over the year... :evil: Hopefully my department is paying all my tuition and is going to look for a job for me during my first year. I guess that is all they offer or at least that was what I was told by the chair of my department "you got a very good package, the best we have" :wink: who knows??? It was my only offer so I accepted it.

My main concern is that I am 28 and think I am pretty old to start a PhD when almost 30... I got into CUNY and don't know if the could offer me a better scholarship for next year... the tuition is not very high 3000 per year, but it is still a lot of money, at least for me... Im completely lost....

Hey there guys, I was accepted into a PhD program that I like but not at all my favorite one. But... I have no other offers :oops: I was thinking about going there for my first year and then to apply again for next year to a different program I like better. Do you think it is possible?? Could it be easy to do? or I should rather wait for another year while working and then apply again? Seriously, I have no idea what to do. Besides, in the program I was accepted I have to pay half tuition and I only have stipend during my 2nd, 3rd and 4th year... ad not very hight Thank you

Yes again, another in the waiting list. Im just wondering if people is still deciding and I still have a chance to get into my dream school. No complains about the deciding part, take your time. Its a relieve to think that I still have the opportunity to get in instead of thinking that all my dreams are gone. However, when do you think those lucky one are declining offers? the 14th at 11:59??? or we could received an answer this weekend?? This waiting is driving me mad :cry:

I received financial aid, but it is not very good: in state tuition award for 5 years TAing years 2-4 making around 16000 $. Im not sure if this is all they offer or i just got a bad package... :oops:

I absolutely agree, why they don't want to let us know where we are??? Any ideas?????

Hey! I am in the same situation as you. I was accepted into the Spanish program but am also in the waiting list at NYU. I didn't want to accept the offer cause I thought NYU has better reputation and wanted to wait to the very end just in case I could make it into NYU. I just went to check out the ranking you said and... CUNY is ranked number 3 in my field... Now, I don't really know what to do... Should I accept the offer and be able to finally sleep at night or should I wait????... What do you recommend me guys?? :roll: Any suggestion would be highly appreciated
